Gosh darnit, if my life weren't already full of kids and a full-time job...

That's all that's stopping you? 🙂

Here are some options... get the family and kids to participate. It will be a forever memory for them. Put them to work, which is in itself a valuable life lesson.

Reduce/pause other hobbies to focus on building, reduce/outsource home maintenance and upkeep. Don't watch TV, etc.

With that said, it's best to be conservative rather than hasty with buying dreams. I recently sold a spare Q2 kit that I purchased in haste and am in the process of doing what I just wrote above.

Well, I *do* have a lot of kids... :D

We're at the point of our lives where I imagine we've hit "peak busyness".  No time even for hobbies.  Among our kids, there are nine activities going on tomorrow.  My wife and I barely have time for each other!

I hear you. I haven't made any real progress on my build since #4 arrived a few years ago. #2 passed away in Feb, and #5 is due in a couple of months, so things haven't really improved in that department!

Aerocanard (modified) SN:ACPB-0226 (Chapter 8)

Canardspeed.com (my build log and more; usually lags behind actual progress)

That's a big one, priority #1.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your child. I wish you and your family health and happiness.

Family and children are the priorities that need no excuses.

Cameron, I'm am truly sorry to hear that you lost one of your children. I've had the same and it never leaves you. Keep working and someday you'll get there, even if it's when the children are all grown :)

@EmptyBox - I do not know your skill set - but there are some VERY talented people interested in people being successful with canards here.  I encourage to set up a separate topic and share questions and finds as you go thru your new investment.  Do not get offended by comments like "probably should rebuild xyz part" - as they know what it means to have failures (life or death).  There is a guy kinda in your area (maybe) Marc (marc_zeitlin@alum.mit.edu) that does prebuy inspections.

I'm not sure @EmptyBox is the person who bought the airframe.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but the fiberglass work on that eBay airframe looks pretty darn good.

@EmptyBox?

(I was assuming that he posted the youtube link that it was he that is the "guy").

Hard to tell the quality from video - but I do not see anything grievous modified from what I know about the Vari....  I recalled Marc finding misoriented layups on a inspected main spar - not sure how "nice" it looked...

There are a lot of "experts" on the internet...  ESP Youtube where they hide behind aliases...

This wasn't ebay, it's the government auction posted last week(?) that was being sold by BRCC. If I would've still been home, I would've bid on it, I believe the winning bid was $600.

Unfortunately, instead of being 1 hour away from it, I was 7 hours away, working, and never saw it up close...

Looking at the profile for @EmptyBox - his name is "Michael" and is in CA.   The youtube is "Dan".... so @zolotiyeruki, I think you are correct...

Sorry for the confusion. No, I did not buy the EZ. That video came across my YouTube feed and thought it looked familiar from this thread and posted the link since you wondered who got it. I was also hoping to get some knowledgeable people that guy's way. You prove that this niche group of a niche group has wonderful people in it.

I actually called about this aircraft about 2 years ago and it appears to be still for sale .  He seemed legitimate said he was an a and p and something about his wife wanting him to get rid of it . Im wondering why he hasnt been able to sell it .  Hard to tell with these variezes another one on barnstormers i asked about today and on that aircraft in Kentucky he said the empty weight was 1050 lbs . Is that even possible .
