It definitely takes some detective work to figure out whats going on with these variEze . Even so it appears you can get stuck with more trouble than you want to take on . One problem i see is the empty weight especially when operating at high altitude airports like i do . Some variEze have the more beefy longeze gear which allows extra weight on the max gross , ive learned ,maybe taking it up to 1350 but the question is will it takeoff at 5000 ft on a hot day . Im finding that some have high empty weights either because of the way they where built or from damage history ( more resin glass and paint ). Your basically rolling the dice when you buy one unless you can get them to an expert to check them out which is difficult in most cases because of location .
