I has not flown since 2006 (yikes, 18 years!) but what the heck. Only 105 hours since some sort of overhaul. Get the logs, figure what was done to the engine. Maybe it will be flyable with minimal work (or no work). You hope it was hangared. If so it could be a great buy. Quote -KentCozy IV N13AM-750 hrs, Long-EZ-85 hrs and sold

The line about gross weight bothers me. Also, what did extending each wing 20" do to the stall? Is the front going to stall early enough from the rear to have a proper safety margin? It's interesting, but those things kind of scare me away from it. Quote

I have a Long-EZ for sale as well as a Cozy MK project - see photos. Located in NORTHWEST ARKANSAS. I have no engine or aircraft logs. Engine will need to be rebuilt. Asking prices are NEGOTIABLE- will accept and entertain ALL offers. 1989 Long-EZ - $39,500 Been sitting in the hanger for 10+ years. Electric nose gear - needs attention - currently stuck in up position. Landing gear (wheels/brakes) need attention Last flown around 2011-ish Lycoming 160hp Clean interior Clean exterior I aquired this plane and have only bill of sale - this plane would be great for experienced builder or engine mechanic. Cozy MK - $15,500 Aquired this and have no build documents. Looks to be 50% complete. See photos. Lots more photos at the link. The Long-EZ is N775AM. The Cozy is a mostly-structurally-complete, with the nose/canopy/turtledeck needing some work still, and of course engine and instruments. Quote

Kent Ashton Posted May 4, 2024 Author Posted May 4, 2024 Seeing discussion of this EZ on FB. As usual, lots of B.S. there. It took a couple searches to find it, apparently near Santa Ynez, CA. https://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/N41AN.html Looks nice but the pic is old, I'm guessing $20-25K would be a fair price. I bet there is $15,000 worth of materials in this project and 1000 hours of free labor. $1000 each for wheels and brakes, cowls, preformed strakes, canopy. Easily several thousand for epoxy, glass, hardware and foam. What a deal!! Many years ago, I recall paying about $2K for a tub and some foam. At a measly $20/hour, you're buying $20,000 of free labor. It's like finding a Picaso on the curb. Quote -KentCozy IV N13AM-750 hrs, Long-EZ-85 hrs and sold

Marc Zeitlin Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 2 hours ago, tfulwider said: Is it just me or does a fair amount of the surface look resin lean? It is not possible to tell the quality of layups from pictures. It MAY be possible to tell if the layups are really lousy, but there's no way to tell wet, dry, or marginal layups from pics. I've seen pics that looked fantastic, and when I saw the plane in person the layups were marginal at best. Conversely, I've seen pics that made me very doubtful, but when I saw the plane in person everything was completely acceptable and decent quality. So, do not believe for a second that you can tell the quality of layups by some pics on Barnstormers. You're doing well if you can judge contouring by light reflections in pics, but that's about as far as it goes. Quote Marc J.
