Rough River 2008

Recommended Posts

To each their own I guess. I like some demo and hands-on stuff. Was kind of entertaining but I had no feeling of being rude if my mind drifted off to dream land (A.D.D) and went to look at planes while someone was going on about washers. Albeit a good safety tip. I like the choices there. No schedules as it should be. I go there to get away from schedules. Bleckkk! What I DON'T like is vendors pushing their way in for our attention trying to sell bungie cords and flashlights. Keep that crap at OSH or find a flea market somewhere in Louisville!

Although.....a carnival vendor would be nice. I'm partial to elephant ears.

Who was the most excellent DJ last year? the tunes he was playing were pushing all the right buttons

...Chrissi

Last year was great! I finally got to put faces to some of the names I've become so familiar with, and got to ride in Dan Cruger's Cozy IV. The tunes were a nice background filler and I really enjoyed doing that for everyone. Unfortunately, I won't be making RR this year due to a couple of previous engagements that must be met. I hope everyone has a great time, a safe journey, and God's Speed.

Morning,

Sorry about this, our FBO (Dubois County Flight Services) provided "before taxes/fees" fuel pricing on Friday.

Our FBO only provides FS during their normal business hours and SS after hours. (M-F 7-5pm; Sat 7-Noon)

That said, as of 9/15/08 fuel prices at KHNB:

100 LL SS $5.68/gal

100 LL FS $6.11/gal

Jet A SS $5.30/gal

Jet A FS $5.56/gal

Again, I apologize for the our confusing data.

Wish you all the best at RR (K2I3)!!

:o

This is what I know thusfar.

Big mass of Dawgs are being hand carried from Detroit.

Buns, a few salads, chilli, a few drinks, plates, 'makins; are being brought our own Mr. Parkins, via express rental car from Louisville.

'Skip' is bringing a few sodas/water, and a few cookies for desert.

I'll be bringing mustard's (yellow and brown), catsup, kraut, knife/fork/spoons for 64. Gin/Tonic if you know the secret handshake. And a new LED gizmo (proof of concept LED wig-wag).

Needed, and none have to be in quantities for the whole crowd (125?):

More drinks (bottled water is universal). Coke, Sprite, ...

More deserts (cookies, fig newtons, Moon Pies, ...)

Lettuce salad, jar of dressing.

Plastic cups.

Am sure I'm missing something.

Rick

Added: fruit, apples, bananas, ...; Anything on Steve's list to lighten his load, empty coolers, coolers with ice, ...

May or may not be coming by my onsies, Ranid hurt her back when we moved the engine out of the living room and its not getting better so she may not be up for the 5 hr drive or sleeping in the van.

We have parts to deliver so I'd be coming anyhow.

I can make a 'run' on the scooter if needed. Though the lodge may be able to produce some stuff for a fee, and there's got to be something in the town S of RR, at the Wendel Ford Parkway. I think that's 12 miles by road

Real chili? not turkey or vetgetarian? Real chili.... mmmmmmmm

I'm bringing a big pot for the chili - we're counting on you Steve P to buy some good chili since Nathan won't be there with his homemade chili this year! :)

I'm also bringing my dual burner camp stove with some smaller pots for whatever else needs warming up.

Re: Rough River 2008 - Personal Problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, here it is

last year i collected 485, 60 went to reimburse the pop guy, that leaves 425

i am sending 300 to steve to get the food listed and i am spending 120+6% on dawgs.

Note that there is no ice, water or beer, if you wants it bring it! It would be nice if someone could ice the pop down at 10:30, that is about the time that steve should show up with the food.

Neverquit will have the dawgs

Doug will have the cooker and propane for the dawgs

Ed will have the stove and pots for the chili

Steve or doug or rick or ed will send me the collections this year and i will see to it that there is lunch next year. This is the 4th year of the lunch. As i have paid for 90% of the lunch each of the past 3 years it became expensive. Now that the contributions pay for the food - it can continue.

24 hours from now I should be midway across Kansas.

Saturday lunchtime vittles packed (and a pack of name tags too!), my ETA is Thursday eve.

If you're flying, driving, riding, or walking to RR; make it a safe one. See y'all there :D

Yahoo! Let's get this show on the road!
