  3. I was told one time to install 2 antennas of each in case one breaks or fails. Strange thing is he told me to install 1 on each end. Such as one on each winglet, etc. If this sounds like a good idea, why not install two next to each other? Will the "spare" antenna interfere with the transmission of the working one?
  4. Washington (state). Friendliest people I ever met. Nice mild weather, no snow except in the mountains. Even the cops are nice. My uncle and family moved there with Boeing years ago. Laid off engineer turned insurance salesman. Big ranch, horses, cousins turned cowgirls. Nice scenic flying views. Every home has a view of the ocean, Olympic, or Mt. Ranier. Check out the areas outside Seattle. Try Enumclaw. You can move in and share a hanger with Steve Parkins.

  6. Have to agree with Phil here. Whenever I make an order I always check the list for hardware and buy extras a little longer as well. They're dirt cheap and next to nothing if they're going along for the ride with your epoxy. If you have to order only hardware because you're missing one bolt of it's too short you're going to get hit with a shipping charge that costs more than the materials. Buy an extra gallon and keep it on hand. Take it from experience it really sucks running out of epoxy in the middle of a layup after that gallon you thought you had in the basement is missing.

  8. Done it four times now by myself with my Cozy wings. Mind you I don't have the vertical stabs on yet but I can still pick each up easily and put them on saw horses.
  9. Wayne, that's a great idea. Maybe even grease them with silicone. Mine are real tight. So I'm using "Syl-Glide" on them. This is silicone grease used for brake caliper studs. Its heat resistent, water proof, and not as nasty as grease.
  10. You can look up a post I had here about a year ago (or less) that the same thing happened to me. I took photos and emailed them to ACS. I called first to really chew them out but the operatoe was polite. She directed me to her supervisor. Her supervisor immediately sent the right stuff and told me to throw out the wrong stuff. I wouldn't worry, they'll work with ya'. I got two cans, tilted the pump to pour the resin and hardner into them. Then wiped out the hardner side as well as I could. I cleaned and then filled the hardner container with acetone. Pumped the acetone through the tube until I was confident it was clean. Later I pumped the correct hardner through it then all was well.
  11. So, what are you looking for, for price? You know what you want. You said it "was" 30 grand. It's also carburated? You should sell it with starter and all the goods. Otherwise you might end up with a buyer who later needs the stuff and you who cant use it on your new powerplant. Post a ballpark price you want for your next investment.
  12. Waiter, you mention "music wire". Is this piano wire? How about a piece of flat steel like the kind for binding pallets?
  13. I've read a lot about getting water in vents during rain. Is your design going to keep you dry?

  15. I had a slight problem with the last 2 layers on the spar. Keep on the heat gun and squeegee is all you can do at that point. Be sure of course not to over do because of too much goo on the bottom though. Mine actually kind of sank a bit overnight but still had a little rise. No bother, you'll be okay later when you find a lot of those bumps and joggles.
  16. I got my first real close up look at Rough River this year of a Quickie. When I saw it fly and saw the little engine it really caught my attention. What a cool plane!
  17. Sounds like the simplest fix without too much confusion of modification is to go a few inches taller on the fuse sides. All things left the same you could keep everything building to the W/L. This would let you scooch the seat back an inch and move the rudder pedals forward an inch.

  19. I must have missed something. I finished my NG30s last year and didn't hear anything about making the nose strut 1" longer. What's the purpose? Are you saying you're adding an inch on the end closest to the F22 bulkhead? If you're going to butt joint the foam and do the layups per procedure you'll be fine. Sounds like your plan might even be a bit of overkill with 6 plies.
  20. I've used a blanket with a 10 hour shutoff the past two weeks outside in 45-50 evenings to do my strakes. It worked so good I went out and bought another one. No more keeping the garage warm for me unless I'm in it.
  21. That's the one. I leter found out at assembly it is impossible to cut parallel (Aerocad wings) to the fuse. -Thanks guys
  22. How did you hold the plastic in place? Is the cut parallel to the longitudal axis of the plane or is it 90 deg. to the wing attach?
  23. And... is it good to fill the gap with foam and glass or better to leave it hollow?
  24. Heck, just throw on some HUGE armpit sumps when you're at that part of the build. I know one that looks like its got two long rectangle sumps with an upward sweep at the front.
