  1. After 5 years I must still be an apprentice. : ) Actually, there's lots of good discussion on the subject. You can go to http://www.maddyhome.com/cozysrch/ or search this forum. For vertical layups I like to wet it out with a (mock credit card) sqeegee it on 3 - 4mil plastic then pick it up with the plastic. Slap it on then roll out the excess (important). Brushing on and stippling epoxy is great but man can you go through the brushes! I use them mostly when the need is best or big such as wing or canopy.
  2. Okay T, now you're just making us all jealous of all that CF you're using. You find a fire sale somewhere? Looks great and strong!
  3. I heard you used the K Y you had in the cupboard Steve. Yeah, scotch tape works too. Remember that when you put your nose strut on.
  4. Sold on Ebay... 20 years of scuba equipment old computers and accessories old clothes son's old clothes old hockey skates old Lionel train set hunting gear extra tools car parts 3 cars anything shippable in the attic Partially built Cozy MKIV, glass, epoxy, hardware? Not until my cold dead hands are pried from the epoxy pump. As always, a gread read Dennis. A regular Paul Harvey you are. Cheers!
  5. Oh c'mon spydee! You FL guys can drive too. Was looking forward to builder updates for inspiriation.
  6. Same here. The clear one are quite robust. I hung mine high (as recommended) and makes it EZ to monitor on a routine inspection. Matco says you can get by with only one but I like the idea of redundancy with two.
  7. all fun aside, I know you're going to be cranking a lot of cubes back there but I was really getting some real straight talk last year from Vance and Buly (both from the Southern heat) at RR. They say the plans updraft works fine. I spoke with another Cozy guy today and he says his cht's are fine too. I'm thinking maybe the worst time would be just loitering on the tarmac and takeoff. Possibly some top venting is all that's really needed?
  8. One of my favorites since I was a kid. Just don't forget "snarky" don't make it right.
  9. Maybe you were thinking of this old beauty.
  10. Watching White Knight II on the OSH cam in an office while your friends are flying there in a Cozy. Going to the junk yard with your buddy to yank a heat blower off an old Toyota and some air vents from an old Mercedes. Switch is back on!
  11. Yep, it's two bid. Did you get the molds Joe? There should be some laminated instructions in the box.
  12. Still waiting for the diesel to evolve. Speaking of LSA, anyone notice the most popular LSA aircraft in the States are not built in the States? Leaving all the history of failures aside, how come non-US countries continue to succeed in small startups like this?

    Naw, sometimes he's just eggnostic.
  14. I just got the paper list from the previous builder. It says its for 500x5 (Cozy) tires. The molds are on their way to Ohio now. Next on the list is a guy in Virginia but the list is over a year old and nobody else is on it. Anyone who needs wheel pants I suggest you contact Terry Schubert to get these. Just make them and store em' somewhere if you're not ready.

Brett,Being a Velo guy, do you find an advantage of the side stick over the center stick or vise/versa? Seems build-wise the center stick is a good way to go.

Wow! That's a great deal! Assuming the "options" are add-on costs of another $32K? (from the website). For over $75K I can build a plane that still need an engine, interior, and avionics? There's lots of unfinished planes needing a home out there if you want to speed up your build time on a budget. Or check out the price of an allready build used LongEZ for less first if you want a canard to fly.
  17. You might want to contact Rickh on this forum. I'm sure if you find him a hot chick on a fast bike he'll welcome you with open arms.
  18. Couldn't resist the title. Anyone with a teen daughter knows... Just finished a pair of the wheel pants for myself and a fellow builder on the wheel pants mold list. These were fun to build and takes about a week a pair and about a hundred bucks to make. Here's a tip for those next on the CSA traveling mold list: 1) Use clear plastic wrap in the mold for step 2 and 3. It saves the mold from excess epoxy and no waxing. 2) Bid tape the joints. 3) Make a holder for the boat molds. 4) Use fast hardner for the joint tapes so the epoxy doesn't drain off the tapes to the tip of the tail or nose overnight.
  19. Hmmm.... think I've seen a few at OSH who's done that. I have an old Sport Aviation mag who has a couple guys with a Long who had their pitot tube removeable - unscrewed, and replaced with a screw-in tie down ring.
  20. The intersection points on the NG30s I radiused and raised the NG30 height by 2 inches. On the Cozy there's an old newsletter that Nat suggests adding an extra 2 layers of BID for strength for possible wheel shimmy. ...just some thoughts. Here's a couple crummy photos.
  21. Jack, Shirl's design had that big V8 sitting forward of the spar. I never saw your E-Racer in its original form. You once had a twin turbo V8 or V6? Was it forward of the spar? How about your E-Extreme? I noticed you also had several configurations for your downdraft cooling and exhaust. Which did you find works the best and what's E-Extreme going with?
  22. Some folks carved out the foam about a quarter inch deep between the glass around the bulkheads to fill with flox for added glass-to-glass bonding and stength.
  23. First flight planned in 2010??? I applaud that rate of progress! You must have quite a team and great financing! Beautiful smooth lines but why the bolt on vertical stabilizers? Obviously I'm looking at the mold, right? Then why not mold the wings and fuselage as separate parts?
