i had the same thing happen in 05, but found out the foam was low expansion foam for windows and doors. the stuff i use is for cracks. and you are right..thin is the key
think we on the same page i think (i got lost, i need pics)i cut off 7" off wing end (so that after the bend in done it will still be plans length). then made sixteen 1 by 3 by 27" (1/2"by 1") V . put them together and you have a curve, but i will cut them all to look like the wing end be for i glue them on the wing.
i can drill in all the holes i need as well.
the trick (guess) will be as i assemble them i will set them back each one a 1/8" so it should look like the back sweep i hope.
I'll have it done by tonight, we see
good on you mate, eh spot on !
so thats where the bugger was:D
thank you spodman!
i tryed to order the 76 but no go (home depot)
and 3m site said 176.00 for a case
so the gr8 stuff is the next best thing
Dust said the 3m is cats meow
so
I'm looking for answers not your questions
so ? not yetthat was not to helpful, just weird
do we have a IMO post some where, we should, all that have a ram chair could go there and impress them selfs whilst the rest of us try to build cool planes..........more impute plz
Rick
i need the thinkers on this one
the plan...to blend the wing end be for i remove it from the jig
why?....so i can lay-up the spar tape and sher web all at the same time
it would also be cool to add the wing-let at the same time'
i think i can do it, i just need the tilt Angle and the offset
the plan give measurements from the corner of the inner aileron and will be of no use to me.
anyone know the slant back Angel of the wing let?
and is it tipped in at the top or square ?
is the wing let as a hole set square to the wind or is it turned in a little?
any body doing this yet ?
i don't see how that is a issue ie. 3 seams 1/6" think under a spar tape and under a sher web? thats a little like the ant lifting a car:rolleyes:
lumps and bubble sand off (as I'm doing now) non issue.
yes," but" ii have foam in place NOW..see post one.
still looking for the show stopper...........more input plz
they are already cut, so cutting is moot now. i did note that crushing the glue was the key, i had to get the foam down to the gluey stage so there was no air bubbles in it.
and that was easy to do, just crush the parts together with tape pulled very hard.
i have cut a wing and held the many pieces together with urethane spray can foam. it was going to be temporary. i later came back to separate the joints and found they were for the most part stronger than the wing foam, and is that not what we are looking for ?
so i glued up lots more and tested the joints and they all worked out well.
can anyone see this as a bad thing ?
i just glued up the big wing chunks and can if need be ,hot(cough) wire them back apart:confused:
are you going to listen to some one that used bondo on his wing ??i think Marc is a fool (smart ill-bet) but a fool nun the less.
build with mas and you get 118% big deal, mgs 120% ,west 95%,
polymers have been out for 20 years now and according to ding done here.. they all are getting worse not better...! IMO
a guy from Boeing stopped by and gave me a tip for epoxy and it comes from california and its 1/2 the price of mas (locally the boat shop stopped having my slow on the shelf..i fired them)
i used mas on mine. i call and had a long talk with the desiner engineer and he would heat up the spar in a box or tent. it is very close to what is aproved
and better than the west slow.
dont do RR, there are no plane rides there !just some kid running around getting notches in his belt:bad:
p.s. welcome, 3 feet, 285, scale, cg, router-temp, plactic-ply, if you get a ride and it gose upside down your face will look like the jokers. even now i am smilling (thanks paul and linda) about my last ride
i have change the same thing in my landing gear and my engine mount ( anodized 4103 chrome-moly.....to 6066-T6 AL.). some may think there was a engineer behind what was used on this plane but after reading here in this post i can clearly see what i have done is done all the time by none-engineer type builders.next will be the moving of the canard so my dog has a place to sit.
(this post is sarcasm and is for educational arouse only !)
that part is in side the spar. the canard has a nut and bolt to hold it in place (and a pin). not the k1000 we see in the pic.can we reuse the main gear after a landing ? or trash it along with all the small parts holding it together ? do i smell a armchair builder in the house ??
good luck on that, not to many plans for sale.
you can get a good deal on a tub with plans for about cost and get a big jump on the start . welcome aboard !
