  1. Again airnico, as I said last year, " Your fuselage you have come up with is absolutely, to my eye, one of the greatest custom shapes for the Long Eze. I wish you would post a pic here again for everybody to see. I think its because of your Italian eye!
  2. Root beer shot outta my nose when I read... thanks Lynn for the classic response. Beautiful work...obviously not essential at our speeds...but beautiful work.
  3. Thanks Lynn, I had forgotten about the biofuel flyer. Obviously he doesnt have a broken neck, and that was a pretty brutal smash. Interesting the whole front topside of the fuselage was toast excluding the front bottom that was intact on the truck. Hmmmm? Any other upside down crashes, people?
  4. Thanks. I am looking for Cozy IV's ONLY. I dont know of any REAL test of the Cozy "rollover- protection" [i.e. crash results]afforded by the plans built turtleback/canopy [TB-1, I believe].
  5. Has there ever been an accident in a Cozy IV where it rolled over and came to rest upside down? Or within the accidents ground speed bleed off, flipped and had to withstand deceleration upside down?
  6. Pardon my head scratching. [i dont have lice]. You have what sounds like a very nice very easy, and you INTEND to put the primary 6 flight instruments in it that are known to have issues so that you can save some money? [?Just installation procedure related glitches, supposedly the cause?] I know David Clifford posted ad nausea um about his and Drew's sending their unit back several times...and Steve Wright has publicly lamented his reoccurring problems with his...and BMA's attempts to solve them. He still rolled his eyes and shook his head, when I asked him at RR 2 years ago if they got it sorted out. Then that was the last time I contemplated BMA as my choice. [and you would think if they wanted to make anybody happy, it would be as visible a guy as Steve.] If I was one of the BMA owners that didnt have problems with my unit, I would be thanking my lucky stars that I wasnt one ofthe guys I have read about. If I am off base with my comments, please disregard all of the above. I am reminded however of the old circus barker..." You pays yer money, and yer takes yer chances". With a Glitch free brand new 7 inch Dynon selling now for 1900. and used probably less by a lot, seems a shame to put a question mark in your panel. Maybe you should explain this to your wife or friends that you will offer rides too,and trips with you before they get in the airplane. Hmmmm? I'm not trying to flame you. I just dont understand. I am sure you have it all figured out.
  7. Hmmmm. My post, simply read....intones, that he roCKS!!!!!!!!! ...and if he rocks he probably ROLLS, so you nailed it!
  8. That picture ROCKS!! That bird ROCKS!! That flyer ROCKS!! Thanks for being a part, of the parts, of the whole.
  9. I beg to differ with you Richard. With all due respect to Wayne, I see no resemblance to the Matco 1X/2.5X diagram's geometry and the Velocity built hanging pedals that Wayne used. [upside down or not] The pointload on the end of the ram should be way closer to the pivot. Wayne and I have talked about this and he is comfortable with it....but it still doesnt appear to have Matco's desired mechanical advantage they diagram. I only bring this up because at one time many were trying to fabricate the hanging pedals, and everyone was copying everyone else, without looking at the Matco diagram. Below appears to be the Velocity hanging pedals geometry. YMMV

    V8 Long EZ

I'm on record here as not giving advice about anything. I didnt mean to say that shortening the canard was the solution...but as a possible solution to the exacerbated aft CG range [thanks Marc for the added word], what did a guy come up with, if that was contemplated? Airwrench didnt bite, so his solution isnt posted. But I was interested in what he had come up with, and hoped he would post. Thanks Marc, for your post. I do offer this for those who entertain stretching between the canard and the main wing station. It was interesting to me how two different people expressed to me how displeased Scott was with his planes performance due to his "similar 12 inch stretch" like Chris' and resultant aft CG. Not sure what these guys did to improve it, but something was in order. Peace, out.

    V8 Long EZ

No doubt, baggage room wanted!! So in your pre-thinking, calculating, how much shorter will you be making the canard?

    V8 Long EZ

One problem I have been told, with the stretched fuselage is the canard placement at the new F.S. location due to the 12"stretch. The canard needs to be in the same F.S. or the canard shortened to offset the added lifting arm to mitigate it's new, built in, aft CG. ??????? Needless to say, I am glad I didnt stretch my fuse, just the nose. YMMV.
  13. Well first of all, BMA is out of business, so that's an update you need. Reason; lots of glitches in their equipment. Dynon 10a's can be had used for cheap as the new Dynon stuff is supposed to be coming out. Try Barnstormers.com for classified's. The rest is for the VariEze guys to answer. You might join Marc's mailing list as there are a bunch there who fly the birds there. Put your word out there and you will get good input.

    V8 Long EZ

Sheesh. Well just leave THEN!!! Well.....A guys gotta do what a guys gotta do. I think your priorities are all wrong. Too bad you're not more committed to talking about building airplanes here on our effervescent forum...In a few minutes you going to be pining, "I coulda had a V8"...instead of that lingerie stuff. That you can have anytime.

    V8 Long EZ

Moneywise goatherder, I have seen a couple of o360's that were midtime and clean, advertised recently for 11-12k. That would make a very fast 180 hp powerplant, though a bit heavy, for you. Add Waynes DD inlet package and go. If you wanted more hp, change out the pistons to a higher compression. But yea, this V8 Longeze is a one of a kind machine. I think you should build the second one!! [you are building a LongEze, aren't you?]

    V8 Long EZ

13 in parts [whats costly is the labor added to that, unfortunately] His machinist fabrication was what I thought was very expensive. I could be wrong. Hey, if it's that cost effective for you...you are good to go, goatherder!! This sells as, the "Berkut" exhaust, that another Cozy540 has on it. It's my other alternative.... Though I may end up with it...I am not feelin' it.

    V8 Long EZ

I read somewheres about the $moolah$ he put into it.... Yowzda!!! You sure you still want one!!!????? I sure do like his trailing edge exhaust. Schweeet! I would like to maybe do my "six-shooter" exhaust like his!!!
  18. Supereze. I just had an epiphany. Reading back to your first posts about your goal, you could save yourself this whole exercise and just invest in getting the Infinity canard aircraft in production. There is even an investment/shares option on his website. Perhaps you two getting together might really amount to a match. This from JD's "what you get" explanation section... " Wings, winglets and canard come to you complete in primer paint -- including installed antennas -- you just install flight controls and paint; # Fuselage and strakes arrive to you as a top and bottom pre-molded tub in primer paint, wire and plumbing conduits, and heat ducts, are already installed in fuselage walls and floor. Just install pre-molded bulkheads and ribs." So based non the above, JD has already done the whole deal, producing exactly what you are/were aiming for...a VERY QUICK finished parts kit, that is looking for a guy like you. Everything is already done for you, give him a call. Infinityaerospace.com I think
  19. Thanks for reminding me about the Prescott Pusher. That is a, was a, kinda cool looking airplane. I remember thinking it looked like a guy could fit a whole little league team in it as it was so big inside.
  20. No. Does not feel like a Vega. A Vega had smallish back seats and a hatchback so you could carry something around in it. A tubular Longeze would just be a heavier copy of something already in existence. A Tube Eze's only advantage is you get is to see the ugly tube framework[vis. funky ultralight] inside the plane when you sit in it....and in a real Longeze you see a sleek smooth interior. There, I coined the name. "Tube-Eze". Please supereze, turn the plane into something that warrants some interest for the added weight. You've got some skills in copying things. Extend yourself and use some design ability and make it something cool.
  21. Neverminding all the if's regarding how you are attaching dynamic fiberglass loads to this tubular steel frame... why would someone want a plane that weighed as much, cost as much, as a CozyIV, but was a Longeze with no baggage room? Why dont you do something interesting with the longerons, like lower them, for better visibility, change the shape of the airframe or canopy, or fatten it or put a semi-stagger seat in it...or SOMETHING? At least turn this into a "cool concept car" kinda thing...not just an exorcise in futility.
  22. How cool is that????? That absoluteLYYYY ROCKS!!!!!! Good for you! Travel is going to be so dang great. That IS my motivator. No more finding a seat on an airline schedule that meets my timeline...parking lightyears from the terminal, and hustling the bags, wading an hour through the ticket line to confirm your e-ticket, and hoping you didnt get bumped...and then, after the typical TSA "shakedown-gramma" experience whilst several anti-profileable looking types breeze though security [i swear I am amazed everytime I go though TSA that that I see this kinda thing.]..then waiting waiting waiting for the flight. Yea, avoiding that. Going to be great. Keep talking about your escapades on the forum...I'll get my drool rag ready by my keyboard! Now I gotta go. I'm fartind around with my side scoop layups.
  23. That's the way it should be. [applause emoticon]
