  1. he told me that at his top altitude he had 30 hp and as an asside he didn't know that another 4 degrees and his fuel would have been frozen enjoy the build dust
  2. Permagrit makes a two disk set of cutting wheels that have worked great for us on cutting the windows and we will use them on the canopy, great stuff, but pricey for that long sander you have, but if it doesn't wear out then I guess that means it is cheep enjoy the sand, i can make you an honouary dusty Dust
  3. my other hobby, 5 nights and 1 weekend, is making furniture. in that indeaver i sand allot. i too though of using the sander, started on the canard, that you are using, you must be a real artist with it, as i got results that were far from acceptable, that is why i brought forward the 3 day wing method. congrats on being a master of the sander enjoy the sand Dust
  4. As high as you want to turbo it to go, well ok not 60,000 feet, but 25000 is a common altitude for piston engines, i imagine 30,000 would be easily doable in mine as i am sizing the turbo's for 100% power at 25000 feet time to climb vrs duration of flight are probably the delimiting factors, also gas freezes at -64 and it was -60 when jim set the altitude record at 34000, normally aspirated in a long. enjoy the build dust
  5. AFAIK there is not a single diesel performence/race shop in the USA. you have not been watching !trucks on saterday and sunday each week, mostly on how to boost diesel performance reprogram re exhaust propane inject funny gas inject more turbo enjoy the build Dust

OK, I see a problem, you don't. I am volunteering to solve the problem in a simple way, others are volunteering me to set up a web page and do even more work. I see that the forum needs housekeeping, others see my housekeeping as spam. I view others housekeeping as censorship. in my opinion, housekeeping would be asking me if i minded if all of my posts to various threads that i have posted a single word to could be changed to an old date, so that it wouldn't muck up everyons screen. I am changing my signature back to not include my name, so that people don't know who i am and that they do not think i am doing this for personal gain. If I am censored off the list, i will leave, as this will be just the first step in some form of arbitrary censorship. I was hoping this site could be a repository of things learned for many years to come, i have put specific "tips and tricks" i have come up with in the chapter by chapter section and begged others to do the same Not much is there and it is easy to understand why, the plans really are complete and nothing but the plans are NEEDED to build the plane and unless you are doing a chapter now it is hard to remember what little thing helped you out. I am getting close to completing the glass build portion of the plane and i am sure i can share my triumphs and tribulations on installing a turbo charged, electronic ignition, electronic fuel injection air cooled engine with others. From a technical installation, i have already put together quite a respectful local team of advisors, so I will make it just fine. I will keep open a post, so that builders or potential builders will know where the shop is and when plane day is and that it exhists. The best thing that has happened to me in the last week was when a new builder spent 4 or 5 days with us building the strakes, from not knowing where to begin to closing strake 1 and 2. After working through the process that i feel is the hardest or at least in the top 2 hardest we have done so far, he looked at me and said confidently, now that i have done that, i really know i can do it all. Please don't clutter up this post or my mail box or PM with support, flame me if you wish here, at home, my phone is listed, email, pm, It has been chilly here in michigan and the heat might feel good. As always Enjoy the build Dust

So i see you edited out your comments to me, they were, quite frankly un true and who ever told they were true was lying. I didn't run from the mail list I IGNORED IT the same stuff over and over, disjointed conversations, the wrong format, end of story Do others have the posibility to edit others posts??? I DON'T think so, so you did everyone is on notice, you can post on the forum anything i write, i have a clear agenda and i say the same things in private as in public. I REQUESTED THAT JON STOP WRITING ME PRIVATLY, telling me off, i don't need the agrivation and he kept going after i said it was for public discussion only he then did it again and i replied to it in public and he deleted the post and then put it back on and edited out his words you want less drible, then make rules for all not just me, you don't like my posts, ignore them, do not censor them. This conversation is absolute stupidity, i am here to help and learn. enjoy the build mike

"That isn't really censorship...........You had 20 posts, each was one word. It is af if you are dictating what is the most important." censorship is censorship This is my last word on any negative subject, if the cencorship continues, i won't, nor should anyone else many posts are one word MOST posts are not worth reading I know that and will work hard and as unbiased as i can be, if you saw the posts i had flaged you would have noticed that who is to decide, you have already made up your mind on who is worth reading and who is not that is what a forum contains I am trying to seperate out the wheat from the chaff, for all to benifit from. I can easily be ignored But I shouldn't be censored enjoy the build Mike

I spent over an hour reviewing posts, please replace my posts. They are no diferent than many multiple word posts, you may think them drible, others may not Nat didn't censor the forum, even when kind things were said about competitors. If this is how you are going to run things, please tell us now and I will put my efforts elsewhere Am I the first to be censored? enjoy the build mike

native spirit wrote However, even I do not want to name you "GOD" I am a man of action, i don't sit around and wonder, i see a problem and i solve it. Would my solution be an inconvience, no, i do it at once so that all can ignore the "dusts posts" and go on with daily life. Because of the tools at my disposal, the only way i could solve a problem was by making a post, the post would be by me, so i extended it and used my name, that way all those that hate me could ignor my picks and do the work themselves. it is enough just to go through all of the posts, but far easier for me than almost anyone else, i remember most of them, it is the way my mind works. I would never think of asking someone else to do that job, it is far too time consuming and i do not dump on others, if i think something should be done, i do it. I want to get people building keep people building see people finish Everything at my disposal is available to all, except money and family, those are mine. I liked using "dust" because no one could think i was doing this for self gain, i put my name out in public to answer a complaint that it was not and wish i had not, the complaint was not against me but a general one, but i did mit anyway now someone can think i am here so that the real person michael skorija, instead of "dust" is looking for gain or respect or whatever. I enjoy life I have a great life i have been helped in the past and i owe others to help for that same reason I also don't mind asking for help, and i have done that many times on this forum and i have learned allot hey native "lightening fast" spirit hows that. enjoy the build Mike

well john, we now have censorship, just the main reason that we didn't want AS&S to take over the forum enjoy the build Mike
  13. Re: posts Dust wrote >screw you >please stop writing me, say it to me on the forum, as i asked The administrator wrote >You're just not willing consider that some members do not want to listen to your yapping. For the good of the forum, I volunteered to stick my neck out for you to chop it off. I also see you didn't like what they had to say on the COZY list either, and your ran away to over here. It is not what is said on the cozy list, it is how it is said, if you read the history of my feelings on the subject you would understand this, the list is too disjointed to be of optimum value. the mail list is combersome and doesn't reach a large enough audience, you have to join it, the forum is open to newby's and experienced allike, i feel if the forum format was available when the decision was made for the use of a mail list, it would have been chosen. I was on the cozy list for years and the same stuff just kept coming around and the archives had so much text they were useless to search through. the MAIN reason is you don't know what to look for On this forum, HOW DO YOU KNOW TO LOOK UP PLASTIC PEEL PLY, you don't You want me to stop posting, then ban me you want me to stop copy and pasting repitive replies, i did it twice in 75 posts, big deal you dislike me having a signature with my Full and complete Name and my sig of Mike, one complained that people were hiding behind nicknames, i did that to sooth a diferent ego than yours you are tired of "enjoy the build", if you start building you might appreciate it you wrote >In the spirit of your "screw you", I am compelled to reply, "Shut the F up already." Then they can easily block me. My efforts and agenda are clear, i am here to help, both in writing and in person I saw this forum and the lack of activity and thought it was a good thing and new for it to survive it need info. I HATE WRITING, i hire people to write letters for me, I CAN NOT STAND IT. Supporting this forum was very hard for me, in the beginning, but I did it I planned on using an alias, dust, and when i wasn't needed anymore, i would just fade away. New people come on constantly and we, the three musketeers are here to help well I can't fade yet, it is not time, I need to learn more, I am the first to turbo and continental a cozy and i believe a long or others and need the help If you were planning this type of project you would understand, it is obvious you don't I hate negative crap like this and I can not believe you have sucked me in on this petty argument. If the forum wants me out then fine i'll learn what i need to somewhere else, NOTHING STOPS A BUILDER I'm tired of seeing the same posts and seeing info lost, so I AM DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT The only ones that will lose out is all of my slaves/helpers and others. I told you I have no use for yor petty additude and to not write me agin in private, air your feelings in public, block me, do what ever the ADMINISTRATOR wishes enjoy the build

"Finishing a composite airplane" posts has been forgotten, if c barber had read it, it would have saved him many many hours of work i just went through 5 pages of posts in about an hour, the first one i did was for his benifit. I know what is here and so do a few others, no one else does and unles it is easy to find, it is like owning something and not knowing where it is, you don't own it! John, look at the activity your plastic peel ply post just got, good stuf, the replies may stop someone from using a solvent in cleaning the plane before bonding, and the info should be known, if it is not, it doesn't exhist. enjoy the build

Well, i've put allot of thought into this and i have a plan and am taking action. I also have an agenda, which i have been following for sixteen years in my woodworking shop and for 5 years in my plane building shop, teach what i know, learn from others and open up my shops for all to use. It has worked well in the plane building shop, as many on this forum know from personal experience and from those not on the forum, also from personal experience. My agenda is to also supply support and knowledge to "newby's", they need it the most as they walk into our world and are inundated with all of the diferent posts on an amazing amount of subjects and to try to read them all is almost as big a task as to build the cozy. Much of the information seems to be needed and is not, i really like the technical conversations with all of the formulas and they don't intimidate me, but to some new to aviation, let alone plane building it can have the oposite effect that we want, scare them away The plane is easy to build You need to know nothing before you start etc etc. I am going to start reading every post that has been written, some i will skip because they don't meet my personal criteria of what a newby or builder would consider important and the one that i deem worthy, he he he, i will add a single word post, "dustspick" this will allow searches to be done easily. I know, egotistical, but not, the only way i can flag a post is to post a reply and then i need a special word, so i picked my name, it can look egotistical what ever way i do it, so ifin you hate me for it, hate away, if i miss a thread you think should be there, then you flag it dustspick, he he he I tested this last week by reviving john slades plastic peel ply post and a review of it shows, activity and new info. This is great info and i feel it should be kept in the forfront of our OUR forum. enjoy the build mike
  16. I am willing to bet that your solution is the right one, that won't stop me from trying a little, but i WILL not forget your advice. In fact i was going to make a comment on that point, your works and is simple and effecient, hard to beat, but i'll give it a little try enjoy the build/ or in your case, the fly Mike
  17. there is ONE size of carbon fiber bottle and it is really light and on the large size and relatively inexpensive, it is about 5" * 20", what a coincedence, thats what we left in ourt baggage/storage area. enjoy the build mike

    what planet??

My feeling exactly, my personal limit = canula at 10,500 and oximeter. I believe 10,500 is the far 23 or atp or whatever limit enjoy the build Mike
  19. i think to get systems that monitor the breathing, 750 is about right. they have also come out with a carbon fiber tanks that weighs next to nothing, that is what we sized our baggage area for, it was going to be for eithor fuel or ox. enjoy the build Mike
  20. I just don't like breaking into the engine for the oil. I'm more apt to put a coil at the exhaust and have a seperate system. Could probebly rig it up with less than 8 pounds, wonder how much fluid and how large a pipe, like if i send 3/8 od worth of 600 degree fluid to a small radiator in the cabin, will that give me enough? just don't know enough yet but appeciate the thoughts enjoy the build Mike
  21. 30x14, you can set up plane with both wings on in a week or two when you get there. You won't need that much room for a while so waiting to move that wall wont be a problem if it only takes 10 minuites I would build the work table 12'x42", wider than42" is just too wide and everything will fit nicely on the 42. 12' would have been great, we had to extend ours (10') for the canards. See the post on minimum tools and the one on reasons not to build or go in the shop Enjoy the build Mike
  22. Hey, mt i sugest you leave it as it is, i like marbleturtle. what do you know, a new way to spell cencorship = considerations enjoy the build Mike
  23. There are two seperate problems with insurance Claims made for things the builder should fix himself. OK so you do a nosewheel gear up landing, just dam fix it, to hire a fixer is silly expensive and that is what is often done Jury awards My close friend investigated acccidents for 25 years and went and testified for 25 years and with absolutly no evidence that there was a fault of the manufacturer, the jury gives the family a huge award. Like the parker hanifin vacuum pump award, the ntsb says the instruments were working and the jury gives a huge award to the family. the cesna box canyon afair with the seat belts, hello we are planning on just liability insurance and will self insure the rest, we will also have a corp own the plane. enjoy the build, see i didn't blame the attorney mike

    what planet??

Jon Matcho wrote "I am not experienced to properly address this question. My humble opinion is that when confronted with the Perfect Storm, and without the avionics required to definitively determine the ceiling of the storm, and without a jet engine in the back, my reaction will likely be to turn around, change course, or land immediately." Well, my humble opinion is to know the weather before i travel, keep track of it en route and to fly around the "perfect storm" but never through it. the cloud tops of the "perfect storm" can reach 60000 feet and there i cannot go. I will never fly through lightening, plastic planes don't belong there. But as No4 sugested there is plenty of weather that you can go over if you have the ability to go to 25000 feet or 15000 or whatever. The higher you can go the more weather you can avoid. The best GA plane that i know of for this is ruttans Proteus, it flies at over 60000 feet and is over all the weather, but alas, no plans exhist, the only thing special in being in this plane is that you have to wear a preasure suit, he borrowed his from nasa, don't think they would loan me one. Now of course i ammmmm enjoying the coffee, but if you continue to misquote me or ridicule me i will respond. I have a dream that i have been living for 5 1/2 years now and I am getting to the part that there are no plans to follow, so I have to make them up as i go. So, once again, thanks for implying that i plan on going through bad weather, actually, just the oposite is the case. I own my own business and it runs just as poorly with me there as when i am not there, so when traveling by GA aircraft, i don't have "get there itus", as witnessed by my three day stay in atlanta watching the weather chanel last february. enjoy the build Mike
  25. Thinking, thinking, just can't get what people say out of my head. It just might be imposible or imposible enough to get hot air up to my toes, i might have to rely on fluid and fan, the book is open, it will be interesting to see the end. if i were to make a fluid system, what would be the best fluid?? it could be a very light weight afair and seperate from the engine or not. I like to gather info on problems over time, without being stuck in a rut, then when the one i counted on doesn't work, i already have a backup plan. enjoy the build mike
