  1. i'm sorry, i can access both sides of my table at 40" it is fine, i've just worked on 48" ones before and the reach to the middle is a stretch and all parts have fit on the 40" enjoy the build dust
  2. I really feel 48" is too wide, it is even hard to work in the center of a 48 inch wide table, 40 to 42 is great and has never failed us and i'm 6'3" agree with the saw horses, three or four will do it enjoy the build mike
  3. wayne wrote 2. Is the 3-oz cloth in the strakes there to increase strength, or to decrease chances of leaks (pinholes)? If it's for strength, I'd say you don't need it (it just adds weight). If it's to provide strength for external tanks added later, okay. If it's to decrease chances of pinholes, I'd say you're increasing your risk of pinholes. If it is for pinholes, I'd suggest you'd be better off peel-plying or plasticizing all epoxy coats on the interior surfaces of the fuel bays. 3. You increased the elevator chord length? I hope I misundertood that. If you increase the inboard-outboard length of the elevator, o-k-a-y..... If you increased the chord length, why would anyone want to muck with that crucial geometry? item2 - extra layer is to stop pinholes, both laid up at same time and all peel plied and plasticized, nat also thought this was a good idea, we will see ifin i have any leaks item 3 - this mod was sugested by nat also to increase lift for increased weight of front seat passengers enjoy the build dust
  4. OK here is my long list of mods that i have or *would have done *heat duct - make square - increases ability to flow air extend ducts to toe area *Change location of map pocket, bolts for elec air brake actuator go threw it in current position, slant it up to avoid this *make bulkheads for seatback wider to continue heat duct square section *floor 1" addition under heat duct and seat back brace has to be widened nose gear bulkheads, made two piece removable cover to stop air replace two canopy hinge with one continious that starts and stops before it protrudes hidden belhorns change profile of landing gear bow for less drag, non lift profile add layer of fine weave 3 oz glass to all fuel tank surfaces and moved bulkheads slighty for more fuel made flanges for top of fuel tanks to allow taping of joints and larger surface area for sealing increase elevator length, no i think i mean width by 1/4 inch wedge under turtle deck to increase height by 1 inch. short list enjoy the build dust
  5. AND make plane noises enjoy the build dust
  6. mgs or msg, always forget which, tech sheet tells you the post cure temp and the "safe" temp enjoy the build dust
  7. >what do most of y'all do, make copies of the plans for templates or >cut out the origional? No, i bought a roll of tracing paper and then glued it down on luan plywood and then formed the plywood and then double sided tapped it to the roughly shaped part and patern routed the part out enjoy the build dust
  8. Mr. sower said with the possible exception of a patch under the hockey puck on the nose so as to minimize damage in the event of a gear up landing if i didn't buy the auto extend feature of wilhelmsons elec nose gear and if dave wouldn't have done such a great job of installing the manual backup extend system for the gear, I would have gone for a 10 or 20 layer of kevlar under the 1/2 hockey puck. enjoy the build Dust
  9. Well, you answerred my question for those who need an elec prop, i have already decided on an oil cs mt prop, just didn't realize that they had elec also enjoy the build dust
  10. sorry native spirit, i was answering the post before yours. I have only been up once and it was noisy as all get out, all of the voices in my head were screaming with exitement. Other than that i'll let the experts reply enjoy the build dust
  11. also, all emails that have posted to the zetlins mail list are available on the open web at maddy's site has this caused a problem, i doubt it enjoy the build dust
  12. in fact, if someone would like to check my mail for me, they will see the amount of junk mail i have accumulated in the last 18 months from this forum and a yahoo talk group and a variety of other sources. just pm me and i will give you my email info to check. enjoy the build dust
  13. hey, we flanged the top of the tank, see the pics in chap specific hints. Also i have recently learned that the cozy method is a little advanced from the long method, more epoxy and wet layups. The other thing we did was add a very fine layer of class to the inside of the tank. i'll tell you next year ifin it worked enjoy the fly dust
  14. Hey, this is STANDARD prodcedure, and it follows logic. Eglass is old and there must be a better alternitive. It makes sense, then i read composite basics by andrew c marshall and he groups eglass with the exotics. it is really great stuff, strong in compression and tension, forgiving if the fibers arn't perfectly straight, etc etc. by forgiving i mean carbon fiber loses 2/3 or so of it's great strength if the fibers are not perfectly straight, eglass loses a few percent. enjoy the build Dust
  15. I have been on this forum for along time, absolutly no junk mail from it. I started a new email account shortly before i joined and the amount of junk mail that account gets is miniscule and i use it for allot of items, other than this forum. The great feature of the forum is the private messaging system, that way your email account is not in others systems to be attacked by infections and spread. People are always trying to solve problems with the cozy that do not exhist, it seems that the same has spread to the forum, he he he Now spell checking and appearing in google when a search is done, those are problems. enjoy the build Dust
  16. No need, it really is easy, dump and spread and paint and whalla. Most of the plane consists of little layups, the big layups are few and far between enjoy the build dust
  17. pety pety, what about a simple list of registerred names and city/state, if the people choose to have one? then you can just go to the pm system and pm or email them ifin they have chosen to have it on the system otherwise, heck with em and come to plane day. We are beginning a franchise arrangement for "plane day" in a city near you. just pay us 10,000 and we will certify you in the management of slaves, i mean workers. No wait a minuite, it's 500 and just pay it to AS&S and start working in your shop security has NOT been an issue here enjoy the build dust
  18. First of all, i'm the first to agree with you that you are right. I am a diferent kind of builder, i don't plan on boring holes in the sky, just going places and many of those places will be a long way away. I plane on 1600 to scottsdale once a month, every darn month, i have grandkids there and i currently see them EVERY 4 to 8 weeks, that will drop down to every 3 to 4 weeks I have a nephew 150 miles away, i'll see him weekly or biweekly I want SPEED and there are two ways to do that GO HIGH Change Planes and go to 300hp Its going to be dammmmmmmmmmmmmmn cold up there and i will figure out a way to make it comfy. I have lots of heat in da back, just need to get it to the front, he he he it wouldn't surprise me that i use both the elec cloths and the extra heat enjoy the build dust
  19. i think some are, but are afraid to speak because of problems that have ocurred with ivo props on 4 cylender AC engines, and they don't want to be told how stupid they are. enjoy the build dust
  20. Largeprime's email address is just fine Largeprime has started some of the most posted to conversations on this forum All this stuff on zetlins mail list is silly, it is out in the open for all to see and copy and post where ever they want to, it is on señor maddy's site, where there are no members, no agreements, just out in the public domain.
