    what planet??

Look no4, it is very important on the internet and on this forum to dispel false info when it appears, if the info is not refuted, then it is taken as truth. Lots of unpreasurized planes fly at 25000 with ox for the speed AND weather and for someone, especially with bold, itilac and underlined name on this forum implies something is silly which is clearly not, then it should be pointed out. end of story enjoy the build Mike
  2. If the top poster can talk about freezing pilot and dog at 25,000 feet unpressurized, you are hereby authorized to post your opinions (not that you needed my permission anyway). What planet are you on, plenty of unpreasurized planes go to 25000. The man who died of hypoxia because his ox was filled with air instead of ox in the 337 that i got my engine out of can attest to that, we will have an oximeter on board to protect against that. I have a call into my vet to find out at what altitude to add ox for my dog, as i write this. As for freezing, i will overcome that, rest assured. I have a huge source of heat in the back of the plane and one way or another, i will get a comfortable cabin. I want speed, other than change airframesand go to a huge engine, the answer is to go up, it is as simple as that. There are problems to solve, they will be solved and i will talk about them here, as long as i am not moderated out. enjoy the build mike
  3. No4 leave it alone, whats in a name, some earlier made a post about that and i added my name, It has made no diference in my posts. I'm a dusty kind of guy and you is a No4. Your posts are clear and can be tacken as they are written, wether we know your name or not!!! Have I changed my tone or info level since I let it out that Dust is not my real name and exposed it????? I am here for very simple reasons. People are afraid of taking on a big project, I try to be supportive People are intimitaded by building a plane from a kit ot plans - I try to get rid of the fear, to be honest, i think opening our shop is the very best way Misinformation - Common thoughts are wrong, kits are faster than plans built, Modifications are easy, etc. etc. The other problem is that i see very technical conversations going on here, and that is good, but a new builder or wanna builder may think they should understand this stuff to be able to build the plane, i try to dispell this common extention of what is read. I see allot of other problems and I will work to improve them where I can. The cozy is a fantastic plane, nat did a wonderful job of designing it, oh thats right burt designed the wings, it is great stuff and go build the plane, or what ever strikes YOUR fance, because that might make you part of the 20% instead of the 80%. In plane building you want to be part of the minority, the ones that finish, i wear hats and can actually do that enjoy the build, and I'll always think of you as IV Mike
  4. plane day a week later tom retired engine eng, neighbor brad nephew from fla Tom friend of slave/new builder, taking flying lessons and learned of us last week Mike Slave and new builder Only 6 this week as clifford took an unapproved vacation day to califorinia, and i had took cook enjoy cooking, but I cannot measure up to his standards, no scratch soup like cliffords, but plenty of good food, or do i was told. I think i figured out why our partnership has worked for 5/12 years, and it's against commen sence. We don't keep track time. no one can look at a schedule and say, i'm ahead on hours and don't have to go this week. you go and make plane parts, you just go and enjoy the work and the people. Ifin you partner up, make a reasonable commitment and then don't worry about it. enjoy the build Mike
  5. OK ron teaches this stuff, but this is not specific to faom and fiberglass construction. we have been warned by Nat previously on the use of solvents, they can disolve the foam underneath and cause delamination, etc.! "If you are using solvents, use them initially to remove contaminants and then abrade the surface. " Nats plans, i would bet my bottom dollar on burts plans do NOT call for soap and water in this method of construction. Now the post talks about purchased parts, who knows what they did to them in thier shop??? the only item we purchase that might qualify for this treatment whold be the landing gear strut and the front nose gear cover, no foam there, wash away. Nothing else would need this, in my opinion, radical treatment. you are washing fiberglass/foam, are you contaminating the foam with moisture that you are not noticing?? Johns method is a "tweek" to the plans method of working with foam and fiberglass, not a change. thousands of planes have been built with this method, with great results, tweek is fine, total change and intrudicing other items, i feel, would be risky. In our shop we keep the oils and solvents away from all glass work and as a matter of effiency the areas to be bonded are sanded just before bonding enjoy the build Mike

  7. I think those spiders are many of our guests enjoy the build mike
  8. Stop washing, the plane is made out of dust, micro and flox. Just vacuum well, keep oils and silicones out of your shop and your hands clean and you are there enjoy the build mike

  10. I was throwing stones at myself, i don't know how to spell, never have, never will, it's not in the genes. on the start building now fifty times, isn't that what all of the other posts said, he he he It is my humble opinion that un moderated archives simply won't work, unless you know the answer, you can't ask the question. I also try to hold my tongue in the tech posts versus the coffee shop, i know you can find plenty of examples where that didn't happen, but you can also find places that i moved my part of the conversation to or from there on the How fast can the cozy go from ox, sorry, couldn't help but to ask it as I want to know. the reason i used ox is i would probably mispell the whole word you cracked a sad on because it wasn't what you wanted to hear no the sad on was on one side i had the rotary guys yelling rotory and the other side was the certificated guys saying only cert is good. I am trying to keep my mind open to both change and not change, and, do the best i can. enjoy the build mike
  11. well, i do understand your problem, i have never, since 1988, had to hire a consultant to do anything for me on my mac, not so with ALL dos/windows users i have encounterred over the years, telling me to get rid of my mac just keeps those consultants working. enjoy the build mike

well, it looks like the doggy mask will be the way to go, and maybe an elec blanket. How will they know if i am over 17500 ifin i dont turn on a transponder, I am building this plane because of it's stealthyness enjoy the build Mike
  13. anothe reson searchs dont wrk, mny hear cant spel enjoy the build mike

  15. Ok, case in point, I revived the plastic peel ply thread for people to take notice of, it should be a staple for those new to the group, and notice it is getting questions, more points than when john wrote it. we probable have 40 or 50 of these threads that need to be highlighted I noticed one of the newby's asking allot of good questions last week and wanting to know allot of good stuff fast, the info was here, he just didn't know what to look for or what to ask. We talked about a half an hour and he may drive all the way accros the country for plane day, that would break hanks record of iowa to michigan, twice. I pointed him to a coupla of threads, minimum tools, etc that are targeted to newby's and he enjoyed them. enjoy the build mike

    ox for dog

well, but what if i can hold full cruise power to 25000 ?? is that hard to look at in your program? enjoy the build mike
  17. ok john, i can't let things go in my head, 2+2 always has to = 4, our sides were deemed just enough epoxy by our teck advisor, we used plastic on the sides and bottom and some other parts but it was thinnnnn plastic wrap, very hard to get the bubles out. if i wasn't near completion, i would switch to your method. does the plasyic come on rolls without folds/creases to mess with? enjoy the build mike

    ox for dog

ok after Dan Tomlinson mentioned taking his dogs in the plane i thought i would bring up a subject of my dowg. He will be going with us most of the time, how the heck do i oxegenate him at 25000?? enjoy the build mike
  19. you know, after thinking about it, i think i would rather have the over the wing tanks that the other long that flew around the world had. gravity plumbing, less stress on a single point. enjoy the build mike
  20. well, the problem is deciding that your post should be kept, it may be hard for many to not check the box to toss. If it wasn't, many more would post instead of lurking. i think 3 or 4 regulars should make the decision. Now saying i would volunteer to be a regular is like checking a box to keep your own post, easier to say pitch it. ok, pitch this one enjoy the build Mike
  21. I will not waste my time going all over for information, if it ain't here or linced from here, i'll figure it out. I am also trying to make here a place where info can be had. the problem with text resources is one of finding the good info, because, until you read it, you don't know that you needed to read it. For example, i posted a method of snapping the wing jigs together, no one will find it. Johns poor mans vacuum/ 4mil plastic layup method, btw, i've thought about it and ifin i started today, i would definatly use it, who is going to find it now or in a year?? For example, this forum has done a great job of limiting conversation on kevlar, carbon fiber because a search on those items brings up a relatively few posts. but, don't try a search on most any other items, such as tools etc., too many hits to bother with. tools 46 hits hinge 20 hist hinges 17 hits fuel 126 hits fuel tanks 30 hits antenna* 15 hits strake 32 hits So, the searching just doesn't work well for most problems for long term health of the forum posts need to be rated or categorized or moved to relevent, easily searchable areas. enjoy the build Mike
  22. Careful how much you read, it can intimidate you. Just remember, thousands have gone before you with less knowledge don't you have a basement, house rules are the home is the wife's and the basement is yours. the epoxy has NO odor at all, but the bondo you accasionally use does enjoy the build mike

  25. I did offer to pay for it and others offered to manage it Microsoft has no respect for it's users 1988 started using excell MS wrote it wrong and put a limit on memory, took until version 3 to fix it had a macro language that they got rid of with version 4 or 5, hello i had 1000 line long macros that could no longer be used version 4 cannot open version 1 excell files, so i have to keep version 3 on my machines so that if i go to my archive of thousands of files, i can still open them version 2000 or whatever it is called decided to get rid of all standard keyboard shortcuts that i have been using since 1988. i could make a list og bugs, but those happen to all, this is just disregard for customers I won't do business with a tire dealer that treats me this poorly, let alone a software supplier enjoy the build Mike
