  1. Is there anyone out there who has actually rebuilt thier own rotary engine? If so, was it difficult and has anyone seen the rebuild video put out by Bruce Turrentine?? I'm looking at a twin turbo 1993 "Cosmo" engine which is a third generation engine. Are all 1993 and above engines Cosmo engines??
  2. There are several auto racing seat belt distributors that sell on E-Bay at dramatically discounted prices. Good color selections also. I'll get mine there,,,,,soon I hope!
  3. Welcome home Mike!! I lanced my toe nail tonight and got INSTANT relief as it drained. Too bad we can't do something similiar for back pain. Sunday is Plane Day next week. Hope to see you there.
  4. We are at the point where we are building the last strake on plane #2, my assigned plane now. There was no way to move the planes around in the garage anymore, so with temps in the balmy 50's here, we opened up the garage doors and everything came out. The floor got cleaned and swept. Working around the metal support posts is a real headach! After a lot of verbal colaberation, lots of muscle, trial and error placements, one smashed big toe, mine:scared: , we managed to get everthing back in to fit with plenty room to build that last strake! In fact, there is more room now to manuver around the planes than before:cool: !! Heres a pic of pre-shuffle.
  5. Lots of jigs and templates floating around. We have passed ours along to other builders so they ARE out there.
  6. Depending on the actual size of the garage and the door opening, you might be able to even build the strakes attatching one wing at a time, then again, maybe not. You will be far along though before you run out of room.
  7. Sticky Stuff pump is 18" high, 14" wide by 11" deep.
  8. Crashdog, You may want to get with Dan Tomlinson who is a member of this forum. He is in Toronto and is well on his way into his build. He gave us a visit here in Michigan a few weeks ago. Very nice guy and a skilled builder. I am sure he would show you his project.
  9. 0643jpg: Is THAT a Makita drill motor he's using for a front strut gear retractor?? http://msnusers.com/cozy4/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=31
  10. Has anyone here ordered or know of anyone who has ordered and taken delivery of a mount from this company?? If so, comments both good and bad are appreciated. http://conversionconcepts.com/cozymk-iv.htm
  11. I put on a uniform, badge, and a gun, and become a Lawman four days a week. I've been pushing a scoutcar around the streets of a Detroit suburb for over 23 years. I retired last December and draw a pension, yet kept my job in grade, rank, pay and benefits. I can work for up to five more years double dipping like this! It's called the "Deferred Retirement Option Plan", or "DROP" for short. It actually saves the employer money!
  12. John, Is there any advantage to using a turbo engine with non turbo, low compression rotors?
  13. Even though Dust called in sick for Plane Day, he at least sent a replacement!! Dmchaplin(Drew) drove up from Indiana and took his place!! Though only threee of us worked today, alot got done!! Flanges were installed on the strake bulkheads, fuel level sending probes were installed and bent to fit, fuel return and vent lines installed, inside side of the top strake skin was glassed, and the pilots side side controls were installed. Not a bad day after all. We have gotten spoiled by having extra hands show up!
  14. Thats what got me over the hump when I quit in '86,,,,,,know matter how bad the craving is for the nicotine,, it goes away an a few minutes weather you light up or not!! Your making me proud Dust!!
  15. I think I remember someone posted some time ago that they were looking for a set of Defiant plans. Here is a link to a set of plans and all the Brock metal parts being auctioned right now on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=26428&item=2465214695&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWA%3AIT
  16. Dust CLAIMS to have had a ride. No proof in it though!
  17. I made ours(two sets) out of scrap angle iron bed frames trash picked. I built them tri-pod style with a pipe in pipe about 6" long welded at the top. I used a pipe flange from home depot mounted to the inner pipe which I bolted to the fire wall and the instrument panel in a center line. I welded a 3/8" nut on top of both outer pipes and drilled and tapped through it. This allowed a bolt to lock down the fuselodge in any position of rotation. The welded tripods were fastened down on 2 long 2"X4"s that rested on the floor. We were able to slide the two tubs around and rotate them in any position we needed. Costs were around $10.00 for each set. Both sets were given away to other builders and are still in use. I ALWAYS have a few bed frames in stock for the steel.
  18. If ACS doesn't have what you need in stock,,, try Wicks. I ordered some MGS epoxy and hardener from Wicks last week and it was on my door step three days later.
  19. Great idea Dust!! I still think the insults will fly from those that have made it a practice to do so, and we all know who they are. They will just have to work a little bit harder at it, and it will be easier to ignore them!!
  20. Jack Wilhelmsons unit is more compact than Steve Wrights and also weighs a little less. It may not be as robust though. It doesn't have that spring on the end as Steves does. We got the Wilhelmsons units for our birds. They installed easily, and the quality of his work is top notch. So is Steves, if you get a chance to see his unit at a fly-in. We just liked the smaller unit.
