  1. Sorry, you are correct, I should have been more clear. I am seeking the jigs to hold the foam cores while they are being glassed. Just trying to save a bunch of time on the jig saw. Thanks, David Pierce Chapter 14, Plans 1068
  2. Hello Hans, I am nearly finished with the spar, and have ordered the wing cores from Steve at Eureka. Did you have any success in locating wing templates in Florida? I am about 60 miles East of you (just west of Orlando), and will have to start on the templates, but would prefer to use tested and accurate ones that have worked for someone. Are you building your own or did you find some? David Pierce Chapter 14, Plans 1068 Montverde, Florida
  3. John, You are the inspiration for all of us. The way you have documented your journey has created a lighted path to the sky. Many of us hope to follow. Hope to see you at Sun N' Fun next week.
  4. I am building my cabinet for the rolls of fiberglass. I have seen several great examples, especially Rick Maddy's page on this storage cabinet. What is the best width of the cabinet? What are the typical roll lengths? Thanks
  5. I am going too! I am also bringing my help mate and better half.
  6. Dust...this is for your heavy engine..go for the turbojet...found this on EZ Squadron. Might work better than your Continental. http://www.ez.org/sales.htm Turbomeca Marbore II Turbojet. Marbore II turbojet engine complete and running. Second for spars. Manuals, but no logs. Can be inspected and test run. Located near Nashville, TN. Please e-mail me for complete description and photo. Good powerplant for a "Cozy Jet". Reason for sale, too much engine for my F-4 Phantom II replica. $8500 USD Cool idea.
  7. Hi Mike, I spoke with you in the "Chat" a week ago, and I am just now ordering the materials for Chapter 4. Sorry I can't give you a ride yet. p.s. Did you find out about the MGS 285 in Toronto? Kind regards, David
  8. I just finished my table, and I chose to use 2" x 8" that are 10 feet long. I used four of them with a 2 x 8 on the ends. I used 4 x 4 legs ( 6 ) that are double bolted (corners have 4 bolts)with 6" hex bolts. On the bottom of each leg I used lag bolts screwed in to make adjustments to level it. The top is 3/8" plywoood "rough" with a 3/4" composite board on top (very smooth, and very heavy)...needed two guys to move it on the table. The sizes worked with a 4 x 8 sheet + a 4 X 4 sheet and it is square and extremely heavy. It is not expensive, and cost me about $150 at Home Depot. Table is 48" by 144". I did the leg height at 30" plus the width of the top which give me a surface at 32" and I can get a chair under each side. Best Wishes
  9. I found this interesting solution to the heating problem with a small electric heater for the cozy. Looks like a simple way to keep "the one who must be obeyed" warm in flight. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/composite_aircraft_accessories/Heaters.htm Best Wishes
  10. I agree that this would be a useful tool, as I would also like to know which builders are close by. I live in Central Florida, and have stumbled on a few that are in Florida.
  11. I understand the argument that when one part is strengthened, it affects many others. Did you consider using carbon fibre on the center section spar, or the supports for the main gear? These are critical points for strength.
  12. The reduction of competition ultimately leads to higher prices as there is only "one" authorized source of materials. As this is monopolistic, I feel that it is short sighted and detrimental to all cozy builders. Since it is clear that there is a rebate program in place perhaps Wicks should consider a discount for Canard Zone members. This would serve two purposes...one to create more competition and secondly to provide a benefit to cozy builders. It is possible that I am over reacting, but I do not like the idea that there is only ONE source of approved parts. Service and price are other factors that are important. As I indicated before, I am glad that the forum was not sold as well as the rights.
  13. Dust...does that mean I have to build in my basement and cut a hole in the floor to get the a/c out? Just kidding...must have been one hellava party that day.
  14. I am in the same situation as "MarbleTurtle", and may go either way with either Wicks or Spruce. Competition is best for all endeavors, and I am very glad that the forum was not turned over to Spruce as part of the sale. Talk about potential censorship...wow! I know that commercializm on the forum is not allowed, but I would like to see Wicks join just like Jim Irwin did. Maybe some interesting thoughts for us newbies. Best Wishes
  15. The only super size cozy that I have heard of is the one shown on the "unofficial cozy website" and is known as the King Cozy. I don't think it has been finished, but looked super sized to me. http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/1165/king_kozy.html Good Luck!
