Kent Ashton
Today's B-stormers. I would certainly put some sort of attitude system in this one. EZs can cruise up high and it is very easy to get over an overcast where you might need get down. Restricting yourself to CAVU vmc really cuts down the utility but for an owner in Nevada, I guess it's not a problem. Kent Ashton
Nice panel, that red really makes it pop! Wonder how it is with sunlight on it?? It is probably OK. I have a dark green panel--about the same reflectivity, I'd guess-- and the only thing that bothered me were chrome switches reflecting in the canopy. I finally put in a glare shield that blocked them. It is just a piece of Formica, painted flat-black and stuck to the canopy (pic) Saw a couple of Quickies on ebay today. A Q-2 that looked like it was dragged off a gunnery range and a Q-1 materials project. The Q-1 guy is asking too much Edited May 14, 2015 by Kent Ashton Quote -KentCozy IV N13AM-750 hrs, Long-EZ-85 hrs and sold

Jon Matcho
Last flown in 2013, TT 2 hours... I wonder what the full story is, but indeed -- cheaper than the original kit. A major appeal for most all of the Quickies was, and still is, their all-around economy. Kent Ashton
Had to remark on this nice-looking EZ project in San Diego (on Barnstormers). Someone has obviously put some effort into it. Nice wheel pants, nose wheel fender, well-faired canopy and some sort of grounding point in the nose. The fit of everything and the seams look great. Don't be put off by the color. Bare epoxy (probably EZPoxy) turns dark with age. Nothing to worry about. Might have the older GU canard but those can work well, too. Asking price is way less than the materials. For sale - Long EZ project. It's about 85% structurally complete (no filler or paint). Includes fuselage on gear/wheels, strakes, canard, wings, engine cowls. I have lots of hardware including an engine mount, wheels, breaks, exhaust, basic flight instruments, engine guages and more. I also have the original plans and Rutan Aircraft License Agreement that assigns Serial Number 1368 to me signed by Sally Melvill (Mike Melvill's wife at the time). I have many pictures I can send that will show the true status of the project and components that go with the sale. • Contact Mark Uyeda, Owner - located San Diego, CA USA • Telephone: 858-805-1370 . • Posted July 30, 2016 • And plans signed by Sally Melvill. Kent Ashton
Maybe I will resurrect this thread. It was fun to talk about and got 13000 views so somebody was looking. :-) Today's B-stormers: Craig has advertised it for a while now. I saw it at an earlier stage and the work looked pretty good. He got a good deal on a flying Cozy so he's selling this one. I imagine there is plenty left to do to get a Repairman's certificate and (as always) it's priced at less than the cost of materials. He says $40,000. Probably true. Heck, I see that a gallon of MGS and hardener is $135 plus hazardous shipping. Canopy, landing gear, brakes, Cozygirrl parts. It adds up. Kent Ashton
Who'd you rather? as the cheeky kids ask. This "Verieze" [sic] or the Lancair posted today. The Lancair kit was probably in the $16-18K range originally so I'd say it's the better discount. Sad to say that with the Vari's potential for wing attachment corrosion, I'd choose the Lancair. Retracts, man! Still, the Vari would probably be fine if you kept it hangared and dry. Kent Ashton
Two today. The first seems like a fair price. The engine could be an "overhaul as necessary" motor so let's put $12K on it for now and you get the some pretty nice bits for the remaining $7K--prop, noselift, carbon cowls, etc. I don't know why people can't resist cutting holes in instrument panels years before they actually need instruments; not smart but a new panel can be built or patched pretty quickly. Don't sweat the dark color. Epoxy ages to that color even if hangared. The second (N19LE) has an O-235 with 880 hours and is rather a plain looking plane. I think his price is a little optimistic. Kent Ashton
Whoa, now here is a nice one! Good time to sell at the top of the market, too. :-( Actually, that was about 8 years ago but it seems that as the canard airplanes get cheaper, the cost of materials keeps going up. I kept a good record (attached) so you can see what it costs to build these things. Mr. Buyer, I built you an EZ for $1500 [sound of grown man crying]. Nah, it was fun and I will be happy if I get my cost out of it and see someone else enjoy it. Kent Ashton
Ebay today: the Moller Sky Car! The ad is pretty honest. Yeah, I can see an aviation or car museum buying it.
