  1. Kent's right, the Maddy website is packed full of sites. But my personal favorite is Tom Tugan cozy search engine. Just cozy's, but as a builder I use it almost daily.

Welcome to the group. Put Rough River on your calendar!
  3. Dave, it's just lets me make the mistakes on YOUR PLANE! I try to learn from the mistakes of others, but when that doesn't work I try to learn from my mistakes at the expense of others! ha ha ha
  4. Good to hear. I can't image what type of ride your plane took. I'm sure it would give any theme park ride a run for it's money. You're gonna want to borrow my Fein aren't you? Hang on it's a 110V in a 220V country. hmm. Ok really really really long extension cord. No worries, we can carry the voltage transformer out to the airport. oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, I've got to make a part to put on your plane, now I getta help cut some off!
  5. I'm sure the tears are worst than the tear! Chris seems to have the best advice. I don't think the bondo would be needed as long as the the glass isn't flopping in the wind. Preventing further delamination would be a concern. Taping it should solve that. Sorry you'll just have to deal with the 1 knot drag penalty! If you can make it on into Perth, Kevin may be able to help you if needed.

  7. yep, pretty much the same style. I'm thinking that my time is longer because I spread it out to multiple sessions. Breaking the workflow and cleanups probably account for some. Plus I just WAG the time. I'll just about break 100 hours in this chapter. That longer than most builders. But I guess as long as your working and making progress....
  8. If you've been watching my webcam, you'll know that I've attached the bottom to the fuse. I using the three step process: Glass floor & let cure, Flox Floor to Fuse & cure, then do all the tapes. I measured up all the tapes to attached the floor to the fuse. It's something like 45 feet! I'm now done with my third evening and still have to have the back area to do. In those three evenings, I've probably spent 5-6 hours and probably still have about 4 to go. I know it's a lot of tapes, but 10 hours for this task strikes me as excessive. Maybe I'm slow or overly careful. I'm curious how long it took everyone to tape the floor to the fuse?
  9. About the same here in Melbourne, maybe slightly colder. It's been about 50 to 55F before turning the heater on in the shop. I burnt through a 9kg tank of propane in less than a week just to keep the garage warm enough to work with epoxy. I glad winters are supper long here...
  10. Bruce, I was nagging him about that on Monday. We got to slap epoxy of the floor since we had the day of for someone's birthday. P.S. She not my queen & it's not her real birthday, but I got the day off for it anyways!!
  11. I used Tasmania Hoop Pine for my longerons. It was purely motivated by price. In Australia it is an approved substitute for Spruce. To buy spruce locally or have ASS ship it over would have cost $200-300. To buy a single clean board locally: $30.
  12. Spod, It's a good thing that's just chipboard. It's pretty obvious you didn't adhere to the 8 hours from bottle to throttle. mmmm.... Spodgrod
  13. Waiter, I haven't flown much in the last two years so I'm a little rusty on airspace. But isn't that class Alpha?
  14. DaveB & I was discussing these the other day. Does anyone have any know how much a complete install weighs compared with the plans method. We're always discussing places to save weight.
  15. interesting look airnico. Reminds me of the nose off a F111.
  16. Ok, that's gross gramatically mistake.
  17. fyi. I can know access that OTHER site. I think it was something with my router. Reseting it solved the problem. Strange how it was just a couple sites. thanks all for the suggestions.
  18. OK, no joy tracking down 2024t3. The only quantites I can buy is 10feet at $12 a FOOT!!!! ouch. The local supply shop suggested chrome molley. They have some 3/8 OD with a .259 ID. For you experts, would this be another possibility? Should I do anything for corrosion?
  19. It's still not comming up. I did an ipconfig /flushdns and still nothing. Pings get lost as well. Computers gurus, any other ideas?
  20. Carpet tape. Good idea. I used finish nails. Either way it should be better than the plans epoxy method. If I would do it again, I would skip the fuel guage impression. It's a pain in the butt to get it to laydown right. My epoxy soaked through to the masonite and firmly attached to it. It was a pain to get it off. My suggestion would be to skip it all together and worry about installing the fuel gauge after the strakes are installed. As I'm planning to make CozyGirrl strakes, I did not cut in the stick impression at the front.
  21. Hi All, I haven't been able to load John's forum for a couple days. Is anyone else having problems or is it just this side of the pond?
  22. Spruce was out of the 3/8 2024t3 tubing when I ordered. This is the tubing used for the front center seatbelt attachment. Well since I have started, I failed to get the right tubing. So question.... I'm pretty sure I can pick up 6060T5 tubing at the local Aluminum shop. But I'll have to substitute Aluminium for Aluminum So is this reasonable o should I look for a different alloy? 2024T3 will take more effort to get. The closest size that's listed in their catalog is 10mm x 1.6mm which equates to .393 x .063 The pieces from spruce is listed at .375 x .065 Thoughts, Suggestions? It's that's not suggest. I may put out a request for through the local SAAA Chapter
  23. I typically use 1/2 Fast & 1/2 slow. I use all slow on larger layups. Because I've been using the slow harder faster than than fast, I'm currently using a larger ratio of fast to slow the consumption of the fast. Got that? If I would order again, I would use only slow. It hot enough here in OZ, (especially up north in QLD) that curing by the next day shouldn't be a problem. Coming into winter, it'll be interesting to see how much the cure time if affect. It was about 50F out in the shop this evening.
  24. You're welcome. And think Charlie Chaplin, like from the old B&W days. Try the drape test. Make sure they can both bend over a fairly sharp radius at the same rate. I'd hate to see what happens if it doesn't bend as well as it should.
  25. It's not my first choice, but it kind of hard to tell the boss, "Hey I'm going home early today to do my work..... ....in the same shop as my plane!" hahaha. I'm simply running out of time to get everything done from this training. On these things alone, I'll probably have 30 hours. that's funny. You just earned a place in my signature Don't remind me. Just double anything you would have spent in the states. I'm looking forward to moving home and saving some serous $$$$$. ok. My apologize to the thread starter. I've completely hi-jacked this thread.
