  1. Hi Jeff, I'm just getting started building a Cozy myself, so some more experienced folks may be able to chime in and expand / correct me, but: 1: A Cozy 3 was built 10% enlarged (http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/kitspages/dbutler.php). This will likely add a lot of time and complxity to the build, however. I am building a wider fuselage, and there are a LOT of domino-effect changes that come with it. Personally, I don't mind. 2: Velocity has been around for a long time, and I'm not aware of anything that would suggest they will not continue. Indeed, they are continuing development (Velocity Twin for example). 3: As i understand it, it is a matter of wher the centre of gravity is in relation to the main gear when unloaded. For Cozy's, it's too close to let it sit on all-3 usually. 4: I recommend getting a small fibreglass practice kit of some sort, and playing around with the materials. Find out if you like it or not. I did, and really enjoyed it, so I'm building in composite! Some people can't stand working with resins etc., so it would would be a poor choice for them, obviously. Hope that helps a little!

Sad to hear it, I hope you get a fair deal for it. I had some occasional back issues. Had a few sessions with a good chiropractor, and barely a problem since! The methods seem a bit weird at first, but can't argue with the results.

It's a thing of beauty, Tom. Hope to have similar equipment in my 'hangar' in a few years!

If the only negative is a chip in the windshield, I'd say that was a very successful trip! Things should be vari-eze from here on, right?

Good. While there is nothing quite like actual flight time, sim time can certainly help a lot, so you can get maximum value from your actual hours. I haven't flown much for about 5 years now; I did a couple of dual flights 2 years ago, and greased the landings. Sim currency helped!

I use and recommend X-plane 10. It's up to date, accurate, and constantly improving. (The MS Flight sims are old and no new versions are coming). Most any aircraft you need can be found in the downloads section of x-plane.org . I have made an Aerocanard FG for it, and made tens (hundreds?) of revisions to improve accuracy of the model, it's very close now, as far as I can tell from published data and pilot reports (I haven't flown a real canard, yet). Producing an SQ2000 for it shouldn't be a big problem, it would just take me some time is all. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about it, I've been using the sim for 13+ years. There is also a 'Learn to Fly' series here. I think it's rather good, but then I'm partial; I wrote it.
  7. Quite normal, I assure you! It's a spring linkage on those, right? Really quite awkward at first; You'll master it with practice. Then you'll get into a bird with a hard linkage, or free castoring, and you'll feel like an idiot again at first. It's all part of the fun and challenge!

I'm 6'4", and I didn't much like spending too much time in C-152/150s when I was instructing! Not made for bigger people, for sure! Do you fly a flight sim at home at all (ie X-plane)? Enjoy it, keep it up, and you'll be licensed in no time.
  9. Thanks for that, Jon. I'll look into it further.
  10. I would like a little more of your reasons in this regard, if you don't mind. Seeing as this is exactly what I am planning to do, and don't have the Cozy plans. (My AC plans are just a few months old)
  11. 500hrs, perhaps with an assisted build? It would be great to have a new canard option out there that took advantage of all of what is making others kits successful today. Still, nothing to do but speculate...
  12. Al at Aerocad hinted at something new coming soon, didn't he?
