Cozy MK IV Suppliers

Hi All,

I'm contemplating a Cozy MK IV build. Just received plans from Aircraft Spruce. My question relates to suppliers of pre-fab parts. I've researched supplier lists and based on their websites (or lack thereof) , It's hard to tell which ones are actively producing parts (Featherlite, Aerocad, etc.). I'm mainly concerned with items like main landing gear strut, machined parts, canopy, etc. In short, things that would be difficult for the average plans builder to fabricate. Can anyone provide info on suppliers that are actually producing and delivering parts at this time? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Richard Elliot

Hi Richard, good question.  There's not really an officially maintained list, but here are some big ones:

  • Featherlite:  Front strut and main landing gear, possibly some other items I recall.  No website but email fthrlite@pacific.net
  • Airplane Plastics:  Canopy and windows
  • Cozy Girrrls:  All metal fabricated parts (give them your money and be patient as they produce in batches)
  • AeroCad:  You can get various composite parts made, even a Cozy IV fuselage (the AeroCanard SB), but I don't see many posts from those who have recent experience with the new ownership.  Still worth a call.

Also check to the once official list on the Cozy Builders website Marc Zeitlin runs.

I found a list with a lot of quantity on EZ.org (much out of date there, and we should have an up-to-date list here).

Beyond that be prepared to level-up your skills.  Get a practice kit and you'll get a good taste for what you need.  Personally, I was amazed at how much "real" composite aircraft building is very similar to model aircraft building.

If you're committed and have the plans, you will find a way.

Featherlite might be changing ownership and name to Aerocomposites.

Consider these precut cores.  They are not much more expensive than the bare foam.  Folks say they are perfect

Spoke to Greg at Featherlite. Yes, there are some ownership changes going on there, but he assured me that all is well and most of the original folks will continue to work there. They had a main gear strut in stock, so I went ahead and placed an order for it (along with a few additional items).

Went ahead and emailed an order to CG for hardware. Waiting to hear back from them.

Definitely planning to order the pre-cut foam cores from Eureka.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Its possible that they are on vacation, out of town... something like that.

They have always replied to my order emails promptly and a delayed response is a little unusual. Certainly you used the correct ordering email address shown on their webpage?

I chatted w/Chrissi @ CG Products last night, sent her a link to this thread.

Summarizing this and other conversations with her, as long as you follow their ordering instructions your order will be in the queue.

I'm putting one together myself right now for the rest of the parts I need for my Cozy.

Yah, they're particular about stuff like this and I support their concerns, so I edited Richard's post to use their graphic.

The reality is that images and writing "address at domain.com" are no longer insufficient in the battle against web crawling email address harvesters.

All good.  Support your local Cozy Girrrls.
