LEZ Chap 4: Fuselage Bulkheads => Question about foam!

Hi guys,

According to Wicks Aircraft website, item # F500-085 (foam) is used for the bulkheads. Got a question: I couldnt find the description of this item on the website. The reference is not valid. Therefore I m not sure this particular foam is still available.

What would be the equivalent to that foam? Last a foam? Divinycell?

I would say the foam used in the cozy chapt 4 would do the job, wouldnt it?

Cheers

I'm not familiar with the Wicks catalogue, but there is a fair amount of detail on the ASS one, with a description of all the foam, other than Urethane...

ok, I've had a look at Wicks now. There is a description there under the Cozy kit:

If you look at the Wicks Aircraft site under Kits: Long-EZ : Chapter 4

At the top of the page there is a hot link: Chapter 4

That link will list the part numbers and cost.

You can cross reference the list with other sites to compare.

The Wicks print catalog (2007-2008) lists it as:

28-1/4" 28-1/4"x28-3/4" 15.6lb density Divinycell F500-085 $105.41

*I* will assume the first 28-1/4" is a misprint, it should be 1/4"

Wicks: not listed as you found.

Hi Spaceshipper,

According to the CPs Divinicell H is a good replacement (See http://www.diabgroup.com) and useb by many. Comes in all the strengths/weights required and in any thickness too - albeit is quite costly.

As I am approaching the end of chapt 4, I m about to work on the firewall. When I placed my order of bit and pieces for this chapter through the european representative of AS&S, I didnt get the plywood required. Question is: can we source it locally and go for an average plywood with the same dimensions from a store or do we have to get specific birch plywood? (my concern is about weight!)

Cheers

Tony
