Cozy Girrrl
(For non-rotary list members this is an inside joke) Any of you guys that have been around for a few years with the Rotary groups, I'm thinking of one in particular, this will have you laughing you butt off... Toyota is going to be using electric water pumps! :ROTFLMAO: The forum software would not let me use 100 dancing bananas Quote CG Products www.CozyGirrrl.com Cozy Mk-IV RG 13B Turbo
NeilK
Did some old guy who has never built, let alone fly, a rotary power aircraft tell you that? I have a mind to write him a letter.... oops, never mind... I was banished years ago for plugs-up heresy. Let me give you a hand with these...
Cozy Girrrl
and another five!  Yah, same guy banished me three times =) but hey, what does Toyota know anyway? ...Chrissi Quote CG Products www.CozyGirrrl.com Cozy Mk-IV RG 13B Turbo

JCPJCP
A variable speed Electric Water Pump may be 1000 times more reliable than a Wax Pellet Thermostat that sooner or later ALWAYS FAILS closed. Secondary, it is possible to build a Brushless permanent magnet motor pump combination with no seals. JCP
Cozy Girrrl
Well the real contentious issue here was it was "proven" (on another list)beyond any question that there is no way a 12v pump could move the water necessary to cool a 200 hp engine, EVEN THOUGH most of the aftermarket hot rod accessory companies offer such a product for hotrods and roadsters, apparently they do not drive their cars or use pixie dust and prayers to prevent overheating and never ever could imagine a street rod being stuck in stop and go traffic with a typically small hot rod radiator right? But then what do they know, or Toyota for that matter? My own objection to the electric waterpump would be to ask which is most likely to fail, a belt (breakage, derail or slipping) or electrical system failure preventing the pump from working? ...Chrissi PS..  Quote CG Products www.CozyGirrrl.com Cozy Mk-IV RG 13B Turbo

Cozy Girrrl
Tempting, tempting but we've already sorted that, provided I can find a new pump and housing to fit with our new front cover. ...Chrissi Quote CG Products www.CozyGirrrl.com Cozy Mk-IV RG 13B Turbo
David Staten
Secondary, it is possible to build a Brushless permanent magnet motor pump combination with no seals. JCP Use a magnetic coupling. Magnet is outside the fluid path and is motor driven. Pump impeller is ferrous core, and is inside the fluid path and not directly mechanically linked to the pump drive/magnet.
