  1. The Ampreg 20 was recommended by the dealer because Ampreg 22 demands post-heating to cure properly. I also know that builders of Europa use Ampreg 20.
  2. Ampreg 20 (not 22!) has been used in Norway building an E-racer. I am considering to use it on my Cozy as well.
  3. How cool - is it this one? http://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=41.991363,-88.1033&spn=0.001358,0.002296&z=19 The third plane from the top - in the middle row is a canard and by the picture it looks like it's on the same place. Competition: How many can spot their planes on Google Earth/Google Map?
  4. Is there any updates on the XP-360 around? Their website looks great, and reading about their build-school makes me wonder if I should look in that direction. Is there anyone using the XP-360 in a canard yet?
  5. I am working on chapter 3 now, so I am a real newbie here. I chose the Cozy because of "...I wanted something fast, sleek, and kick butt, drop your jaw on the tarmac when you see it aircraft..." and the possibility to have my wife and kids in the plane and not to mention that I can finance the plane as I build. My way so far has been reading ALOT on the net, I've gone through many builders websides and read the different forums. I bought the plans and have read all the newsletters from #73 to the last one. I am now starting with the first on the CD (#4 actually). I have looked through the plans, read some chapters and just skimmed the others. I have had the pleasure to fly an E-Racer this summer so I believe I know what I am up to. I also had many modifications planned in my head, but again and again I remember the phrase "do you want to fly or do you want to spend your time building" - even though I enjoy building very much. The goal for me is to fly the plane, and when I know the original design - with the changes from the newsletters and mail-group - is well-proofed the choice is easy. "If it works - don't fix it!". My main problem has been getting the proper materials since I don't live in the US. Seems I have found sources for the most now. I have even got help from Nat! Now I am finished with my bookstand and my kids was SO impressed. I am mentally ready to start on chapter 4, as soon as I get my papers back from my local FAA. And I will stick to the plans. At least for now...
  6. But these maneuvers, are they limited to certain canards? I read in another thread that the Long-EZ could perform them, but the Cozy could not because of the wider fuselage?
  7. (message deleted since I found an other thread answering my question)
  8. I was also looking at these figures. I struggle with conversion myself since g/m2 is the way we measure in Norway. I made a simple spreadsheet for myself so I easely can convert between the different formats. I have these values for the recommended cloths: Uni: 7 oz/sq.yd = 237 g/m2 Bid: 8,8 oz/sq.yd = 298 g/m2 Tape: 22 oz/sq.yd = 7465 g/m2

    Canopies

I'm blowing life in this old thread - as I was searching for tinted canopies. I have decided for a canopy from Todd's. Is there any good reason NOT to choose the tinted canopy vs. the clear? Erlend Moen Norway
  11. I am flying a Long-EZ from AlphaSim on FSX. A great model, you find it here: http://www.alphasim3.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=32&products_id=235
  12. Hello all! I'm all new to this, but have been thinking alot the last years about taking my PPL. I have been building and flying RC-planes for the last 25 years, and have always been very interested in flying. The thought of building my own plane have developed over the last years. I love building models, and I am a pretty good carpenter at home if I may say so... I have spent some time reading several people's webpages about building their various EZ's and must say I have gotten more and more eager to take the big step myself. The best part of it is that I have gotten my wife interested as well. She had a dream when she was younger to take a helicopter-license, but she never took the step. The strange thing is that she doesnt like to fly in big planes, but she would like to fly herself. It has something to do with having control over the situation I guess! Well - why the Cozy? It's because I'd like us to sit side-by-side, and I'd like to have room for passengers. Even though my kids will be grown up when this project are finished, I'd like the extra space. And I like the appearence of the Cozy. To start - I have bought some DVD's that shows the Cozy and other canards in flight, as well as a DVD that shows the building process. We will start by watching these DVD's and then we are hopefully ready for the next big descision wether to go the long way or not. Oh - forgot to mention that I am using Microsofts Flight Sim (X) alot. I found a Long-EZ and bought the virtual model to test (AlphaSim). Now I am flying Long-EZ as easy as nothing. Have added extra difficulties, as strong crosswinds and bad weather just to train difficult approaches. However, I don't know how "real" this model behaves compared to the full-size. The dream for now is to get an invitation over to the US for my wife and I so we can have a testride in a Cozy... Maybe we will visit Oshkosh next year? I will be lurking around here a lot I guess, trying to absorbe the knowledge from all of you people. For now, regards from Norway!
