  1. Cozy IV project for sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cozy-Mark-4-Project_W0QQitemZ4579593805QQcategoryZ63679QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. I suppose. The sump tank system works well for the Velocity aircraft and I will be using a similar setup. No switching, only on/off. (Brett F. join in anytime)
  3. The outside edge of the pulley mount pieces (approx. 5" x 9"). I was confused with the "foam" line on the outside of these pieces. I just had to study the lines more to see what I was looking at. What I did to make it work was eliminate the "foam" portion. We'll see what it looks like when it goes together.
  4. Go to www.maddyhome.com/cozysrch and enter this: .*to switch or not to switch\\. the question\\..* in the subject line.
  5. My concern is the placement of the valve, remembering to switch tanks (something that can be learned) and being able to reach and turn it with two "good size" people up front. I also want clean lines underneath the strakes (less drag...). That's what I'm thinking anyways. (The Cozy Maillist has a nice long string on this very idea.) 6. I'm coming up on Chapter 6 and was thinking about the fuel valve installation. I would like to do away with the fuel valve and sump blisters and go to a sump tank mounted ahead of the firewall, aft of the aft lg bulkhead. The only valve in the system would be an on/off valve. I have not decided on or figured what size the sump tank would be, but somewhere in the 3-5 gallon range. My reasoning is to eliminate the fuel tank switching and fuel lines into the cockpit. Your thoughts... Carlos Fernandez AeroCanard FG Plans #206 Chp. 5
  7. Not that anyone cares I have just over 300 hours but have cut back the flying to build the magic carpet. From what I'm hearing it will be worth the wait. Dreams of flying myself to distant lands like Reno and Paradise in the Bahamas are my key motivators. Traveling(flying) in an efficient machine just does it for me (I can't stand driving...ANYWHERE). 180 knots, 8 gph, 10,000 ft, music in the background, doesn't get much better. Sorry gotta go, longerons need to be made... Carlos Fernandez AeroCanard FG #206 Chp. 5
  8. Whatever epoxy you choose look at the pot life. If your working tempratures are high (IMHO, 90+ degrees) use the slowest hardener you can get. I have been using Aeropoxy resin and fast hardener (pot life 1 hour) which is fine for small layups but I wouldn't even think of using it on the fuse sides or wings b/c the micro on the foam would have gelled before getting the cloth on and wetted. For the large layups like those mentioned above I am going to use the slow hardener (pot life 2 hours) and relax a little during layups. Hope this helps... Carlos Fernandez AeroCanard FG #206
  9. Congrats! Keep the motivation or come back here (Canard Zone) for a boost. Sounds like a good start. Thanks for your service and be careful out there. Carlos Fernandez AeroCanard FG #206
  10. I slept on it (almost literally) and it came to me.
  11. Okay, I have studied the firewall plan...a lot...perhaps not enough b/c I'm asking this question. Anyway, here it is: What size are the pieces between the lower and upper firewall pieces? Where do these pieces go in relation to the outside edge of the firewall? Should the upper firewall and lower firewall pieces be the same width? Thanks, Carlos Fernandez AeroCanard FG #206 Chap. 4
  12. Wicks Aircraft has their materials broken down by chapter as well. http://www.wicksaircraft.com/catalog/product_cat.php/subid=3525/index.html Hope this helps... Carlos Fernandez AeroCanard FG #206 Chap. 4

  14. Start as soon as possible you won't believe how much fun it is as well as educational. A real life exercise...
  15. Our chapter (EAA221) had Grand Rapids Technologies in for a talk last fall and they seem to have a great deal of knowledge on PFD/MFD's. Their website is www.grtavionics.com If I remember correctly the difference is where the PFD gets its information from, that being the gps position or an AHRS. GRTAvionics uses an AHRS where Dynon uses GPS signals. If you want to know more go to their website(GRTAvionics.com) and look for how they have their system setup. Either way look at them all and choose what's right for your installation. If I needed instrumentation now I would seriously consider the PFD/MFD package from Grand Rapids Technologies. My 2 cents... 16. The website is down or moved. I searched for it but could not find it. I looked in the website archives and found this from 2003: http://web.archive.org/web/20040125103629/http://aeris.ch/ Carlos Fernandez AeroCanard FG #206 Chp. 4, 5 , 10
  17. He's provided good builder support as well...timely responses. Glad to hear! I'll help anyway I can by buying your products (the build is fun though ). Carlos Fernandez AeroCanard FG #206 Chap. 4, 5, 10
  18. When does the build start? Soon..?
  19. Plans are to be in Oshkosh for White Knight/SpaceShipOne's arrival on Monday (and still 'till ???). We had a great time in that particular camping spot so if you get there before us save us one. See you there!
  20. Greetings From Kalamazoo! My friend Andy is building a Velocity XL-FG in Plainwell and I have recently started an AeroCanard FG. You're welcome to stop by either shop (and work ) and we'll try to answer any of your questions. Welcome... Carlos AeroCanard FG #206 Chp. 4, 5, 10
  21. You're doing exactly the right thing...sit in one. If it helps I flew in a Cozy (Robert Kittler's) last September. Robert weighs in at 235. I weigh in at 200. We were "Cozy". If you don't mind sharing the same space with someone it is okay. If you fly alone or with someone smaller (petite) routinely, Robert says it is just fine. He also made the armrest on the sides as thin as possible for more hip room and cut down the center armrest to make the front seats more of a bench. My 2c...
  22. Looks like a Varieze or Longeze fuselage. Someone more informed might be able to tell you the difference. Why are you selling?
  23. Drawings have arrived!! Let the building begin... I already have a question on the landing gear hard points...
  24. Noodles, I have been helping on the Velocity XL-FG project. It belongs to Andy. I used it to gain the skills needed to build something of my own ("I bleed epoxy..."). The Velocity has been a hoot to work on (along side Andy)! I am actually leaving for Charleston, SC this afternoon and I expect templates and drawings to arrive just after I leave for the airport. Oh well, it will be something to look forward to... Nice to meet you. When Chris flys up to Michigan in his completed Velocity have him bring you and we can meet in person.
  25. I too have sent for Aerocanard plans and am eagerly awaiting their arrival. I have the workshop ready...can't wait! I am also looking for Aerocanard (plans) builders to work along side via email anyways to push or be pushed to completion. My building experience is on a Velocity XL-FG. Four years into it and maybe two to go. Check out www.kal-soft.com/velocity if you like. In case Chris Barber reads this...I know you by way of Andy. Looking forward to the build
