  1. Turtle, The ones I rented john are good to ounces. If you are talking about the ones Deisel Dan is using. He will show you a calabration tag that will stand up in his state trafic court. States love over weight trucks almost as much as transporting fuel in a trailer without a tanker or haz mat endorsment.
  2. OK e-mail me adunsmore123@cs.com to exchange info.
  3. John I bought a pair of 1,000 pounds, each last year to weigh my bird. I paid $ 250.00 each for them they are about 18 inches square, and about 1.5 inches high, digital read out either battery or AC. I would either sell or rent them to you. They weigh about 52lbs total. I don't know how much it would cost to ship. Shipped to me on UPS ground. Make me an offer. I live just south of Indianapolis.
  4. check out Composite Design. www.compositedesign.com
  5. I ran auto gas in my Long-ez for better than 12 years. In a nut shell. What a pain in the butt. Filling with 5 gal cans before trips. Finding Auto gas at other airports. Finding gas cans. Finding a ride to fill the cans. I could go on, and on. Now to the plugs. Plugs fowel when you idle rich over time, or run rich. keep rich idle to a min. Now Grounding your bird for fueling. I have a peace of copper tubing I stick in the tank Through the the filler hole, and clip the ground clamp on it. To date no earth shattering kaboom. I switched to 100LL this summer when I had to rebuild my 1955 Lycosours. Rebuilt in 1966. checked over in 1989 and run for 1323 hours on auto gas in my long-EZ. Then 0 timed this July and set up to run 100LL. The extra cost of 100LL is worth it just to be rid of all hassel. I am not out to start anything. PS I had to plug in my electric coat last week. Can winter be close at hand?
  6. Marine Corps pilots do not work on aircraft. In other words 4000 hours flight time = No wrench time.
  7. Well i'm back from flying. Let me say one more thing. Asking price, and what you actually get are uasually a long way apart. I think the reason is, if it took a dime to poop, most plane buyers can't even pass gas wihout asking the bank first. BTW Some Longs are for sale for 45 to 50 thousand, Loaded of course.
  8. If I build a third Long-ez. Will you come and do the math? I like your numbers better than the ones I ended up with after selling. PS you can't piss me off. I love to read this forum, it brings back memories. (RUB) The weather is great today. I'm gonna turn gas into noise with my pickel fork.
  9. cause when it comes time to sell you plane you will be lucky to get 50 cents per hour.
  10. CATTO 3 blade prop 60 inch Dia. 68 inch pitch. 3000 Max RPM. Made for 0290-D2, 135 HP. USED 10 hours. prop like new. will sell for $1,200.00 US
  11. You are right. and i am sorry to pee you off. I have worked with carbon fiber on non structural parts. And to say the least the stuff is a bear to control. Again I apollogise for jumping so high.
  12. I have built 4 canards 2 stock and 2 rontz. I have built 2 full sets of wings and helped on a few others. Are you saying to make a full set of canard and wing templats . not to mention the cost of material. How dose yor bird fly?
  13. I have been using a 55 amp Hundai alternator for over 7 years. No problems the voltage regulator is built in. Cheeper than B&C it includes bracket for Lycoming. Sold by Mark Landoll's Electric Service 2112 SW 76 st. Oklahoma City, OK 73159 405-685-0239 he also sells light weight starters. Alternator, bracket, shipping under $800.00 Starter, bracket, shipping under $200.00
  14. Using your logic. The notch you hot wire in would bee too deep after carboning. (Glassing) Then you would lose the weight gain with filler to fill the trough. Also if the carbon canard were to flex a lot the filler wouldent. craking filler, paint. LESS THINKING AND TYPING = MORE BUILDING
  15. Stainless Steel hoses weigh a LOT. More than rubber ones. Mabe you should put Nitros boost on that Turbo. Just to get all that exta weight off the ground. Have you thought about a 15 pound CQR to throw out to aid in braking? It gets real easy to put a lot of weight on a bird. I know, I have. Then you have to put your bird on a diet to save weight for the little womans stuff.
  16. Just a thought. Could you put a ball valve in the oil line to the cooler? That way you could turn it off in winter. The travel is only 90 degrees on the stem from full off to full on.
  17. I have the old nose gear assy. I took out of my Long. It is old enough to vote. Yes about 1/3 of the teeth are missing. I too had an oops. I rotated the old gear so it still works. Make me an offer. EZ noselift will bolt right in. 100% better. No more oops.
  18. urathane is used in the nonstructural stuff. If exposed to UV it breaks down. Primer and paint over glass thake care of that. It is EZ to form. Styrene is used for flying surfaces, Canard, Wings. PVC is used for bulkheads, strakes, and fusalage. Hope this helps.
  19. My dog(Chuck) won't wear nothing. Not even a leash. I only wear the pants when plowing the taxie way on my tractor. The socks and coat are plenty in the plane. Have you gone to the gerbings web site and looked at the jacket liner? www.gerbing.com It looks just like a wind breaker.
  20. I have around 400 hours on it so far. Still working. It is a Blazer International Corp. in Franklin park, IL. Made in China. C107KBMW It is 3"X4"X 1"1/2 to plug in. Cut your mounting hole just below hinge line in belly board and RTV in place. You may have to open up bottem of plane. Mine had clearance there already for Linier motor. Aim the light at the nose wheel, I think I paid 9 or 10 dollars for it, and did not use the mounting frame or the switch. Sorry about the Pics, getting one of them new fangeled digital camera's soon.
  21. Well I guess I just answered my own question. I went to canard.com Long-ez flyers list. It seems 0-235 use 1325 to 1425 for max Gross 0-320's use 1325 to 1800 max,and 0-360's use 1800 to 2250 max. Thanks to all for your input. Did you know airodynamicly a Bumble Bee is not sapose to be able to fly. But he don't know that. So he fly's anyway.
  22. When ready for takeoff you raise the board, leave the light on, look down the runway hit the throttle and go. Rember to turn it off. Or, I turn it off after line up and just keep between runway lights. When airport is not busy. I was trained by an old Navy jock who thought landing lights were to signal you the Air Force was using the airport. BYM Better landings at night when you don't use the light. The strobs are almost too much.
