They do know seats. But, you have the cost wrong. They charge $342 per seat (uncovered), as compared to $75.for only a bit over the cost of the foam Oregon Aero will build and shape the seats for you. made out of three densities and with lumbar support. they know seats.
That $300 I mentioned if for enough foam to make 4 seats (with 3 densities).
Oregon Aero puts out a very nice product at a very nice price.
Oregon Aero Cozy seat prices, (PER SEAT):
Full Leather - @$1100
Partial Leather- @ 900
Cloth - @700
Foam Only - $342
Too rich for my blood.

I thought I'd let everyone know about a source for Confor Foam, (was Temperfoam). The vendors I checked with generally wanted $150-$160 per 1x36x80 inch sheet.
This company has it for $100 per sheet. I just had 3 sheets delivered, and it looks like the real McCoy.:

I'm not sure this is right. The torque tube universal joints at the seatback are not thru-n-thru. So it wouldn't go all the way to the IP.Colin Koebel, one of the guest Geezers said, " you know, the Longs and the Veris have an unsealed tube from the firewall to the instrument pannel as part of the design. To make matters worse, he stated that the Cozy's and other side by side versions have TWO of these unsealed conduits."Our aileron control torque tubes are open in just such a way.
the MKCS124 or equivalent in the other birds of the flock are open as is/are the torque tube/s to the control stick/s.
Seal the tubing joints (high temp RTV?) at the seatback and just forward of the landing gear bulkhead, and you're good to go.

Try this site for tohse pesky actuators
$100 - $140.

For anyone getting ready to install instruments:
I just finished plumbing the Pitot/Static system on my Cozy using the SafeAir1 System. ( www.safeair1.com )
It uses plastic tubing and special spring loaded fittings, which make it EZ to assemble and disassemble. They make a kit, $85, which is geared toward RV's and the Dynon AOA pitot.
I found it VERY easy to use.
(They also have a non-painted pitot tube mounting mast for $47.50. )

I'm sure Al Aldrich would .pdf you some samples if you asked.I would like to see these plans to help in my decision. Is there any way to still get a copy of tHem?Thanks.

Credit where credit is due......KFOG ROCKS !!!!!If you can jack your PC into your sound system you might try this online streaming music from KFOG Radio in San Francisco, there are times I just cannot take any more of this midwest mix and have to get a flavor of "back home", KFOG does it for me, YMMV.
"adult contemporary rock" .. a mix of the best of old and new, no Sammy Hagar or Delilah

If this had been a real emergency, I would've directed you to move to SF. (PLEASE don't read anything into this. )
I now return you to your regular local stations. (No barf imoticon on this site.)
(I hope Epoxy Lady won't trip over the wires from my computer to the Shop/Tent.)

Roman numerals?Ugh that pesky aging thing, Randi just had her XXth birthday, I've lost count of mine.

Not sure of your reasons for moving the hinges inboard, but I'd consider moving them more outboard and figuring a way to tie them into the upper longerons. MUCH more stable.
If you can find other things to work on ( ) you may want to wait to see Ed Richards' design at the next Rough River. He's modified his side-opening canopy to forward-hinged very nicely just that way. (Better than mine...)

Group:
At present, there are no plans to have a Canardian BBQ at SNF this year.
Family obligations are preventing both Keith Lukat & I from organizing the event.
If anyone else would like to "take the bull by the horns", Keith has the
contacts which can get you the space to have it.
Regretfully,

We have to give credit to Jerry Schneider for the Dritz scissors.
Thanks Skippy!
One small step for Canards.
One giant leap for Canard Builders.

So, I take it you're rich? :DAnd I would prefer if you don't refer to me as "some poor slob".
(Just couldn't resist.)

Same stuff.

Joe,
I'm not sure where you are in r/t strake installation, but here's the big picture for everyone's benefit:
After installing the top skin, I dished out the foam down to the inner skin wide enough to create glass-to-glass contact with the upper skin about 3/4" wider in diameter than the hole needed for the cap to fit through. I then, after glassing the top skin of the strake, roughed up the bottom surface of the cap flange and seated the cap in flox so it was flush with the top strake skin. A layer or 2 of BID around the flange should finish the installation.
(One layer should suffice, but I just have a tough time one-plying ANYTHING. It just doesn't seem like enough.)
Two caveats for the benefit of those anxious to install them:
1) Wait until after you've leak tested the tanks for leaks to cut the hole.
2) Before dishing the foam, QUADRUPLE check the placement of the hole. Some have inadvertantly cut the hole into a strake rib.

Just tried it.
Works fine.

"That was terrific!!! Gotta cigarette?"I don't want to say anything nasty but I will buy a beer for who ever comes up with the best caption for this picture of Drew.
(I like Guiness Stout. )

For larger batches, say, >100g, I mix 2 minutes.
I then get down to a minimum of 1 minute as the batches get smaller.
Stirring efficiency, IMO, is inversely proportional to batch size.
Chrissi's right about the "streaks" thing too.
I hate it when I'm wishy-washy.
-
Dmchaplin,
I couldn't find what type epoxy you're using. But if you are using MGS 285, and all of the anti-contact measures you care to use don't help, you may want to consider switching to 335.
MGS 285 raises Texas-sized welts on my skin on contact. While the 335 causes me no irritation whatsoever. YMMV.

You're right, I don't know the whole story. And you're wrong. It wasn't directed at you. Try not to assume facts not in evidence, (Just finished watching Law and Order. ). There are no hard feelings on my part whatsoever. But these dang chat-room environments are exactly why wars are fought: perceived innuendo, thoughtlessly worded posts, and that's why I'm for keeping it simple. No it was directed at me. Jerry you dont know the whole story. I apologies for instigating this it is not worth having hard feelings against anyone. I truly enjoyed RR 07 I plan on going again next year. Getting to see my first finished Cozy and going for a ride with Marc was worth a Lobster dinner I also plan on helping out again. Build on. STeve
Sorry. No more rides today. I can't afford it..... Potato salad.I would have given him more for the ride but I spent it on Potato salad.
Yeah. That WAS directed at you, Steve. Your words. Not mine. I merely extrapolated the effect of your potato salad. (You drew "first-blood" by informing me it was you I was directing it at. Wrong. I didn't know who started it.)
See how it can be read wrong?
I don't post much. And as time goes on, I seem to want to contribute less and less due to the over-sensitivity and poorly worded posts (I know, I said it again.), which lead to the ill-natured exchanges and misunderstandings we've all seen over and over again, but seem to be powerless to curtail. (Except by non participation.)
Everyone in these forums need to really think before pulling the trigger and hitting the "submit" button. Some do. Seems some of us don't.
If we could only keep discussion of Canard aircraft to honest knowledge-seeking questions and answers, and minimize, if not eliminate criticism, these areas would be a much nicer place to hang out in.
I'll do my best to not respond to any further discussion on this subject. I've pretty much covered what I feel on this issue. Hopefully, I didn't offend anyone, and some have gotten my intended message across. But it's just the way I feel. (Sorry for busting your name, Remi. )
Epoxy Lady is bugging me about expending too much effort on this stuff. (What does SHE know? )
Open the Pod Bay Door, Hal......
But then, I could be wrong.... Dennis Miller:p
-
No need to reiterate, Rhemi. I am (hopefully everyone else is) aware of your stance. And my statement was not directed at you.I'll reiterate that I did not .....
My reason for wasting time here was to try to bring this issue back to earth. I really appreciate the cookouts. Somewhere on one of these forums, someone, a while ago, suggested the profits from the RR cookout be given to pilots which were giving rides. SHEESH!! What about the children who need healthcare!
Who speaks for them??!!!
-
I was going to keep quiet on this, but as I've hosted a couple of these "get-togethers" at SNF, I guess I should offer my 2c. and the other side of the coin, so to speak.I kind of agree with you Remi: I figure if they collected money for the lunch they should have reimbursed those of us who popped enough to buy a lobster dinner for a hot dog lunch. Just my .02 STeve
The whole premise of this type of event is it lives, or dies, on donations and good will. Some people donate food/time, others donate cash. That's it. No divvying up the Treasure. No voting. No debating. Just eating and camaraderie. If you pony up a Lobster dinner without a previous arrangement for reimbursement..... you just donated a lobster dinner. It's bad manners to ask for a rebate from someone you just gave a gift. (Unless you're a politician. )
Rather than criticize, have your own pot-luck dinner next year, collect donations, (or not), and let the masses decide. That way everyone gets fat and happy. (I promise to come to each and every party hosted. )
My suggestion: Let's all vote with our presence and/or participation instead of words. If you don't like it, don't come.
Let's keep it that simple. If we don't, before long, we'll be having debates on how much of the money should be going to children's healthcare.

So how much are they going to charge for lunch on saturday?
I heard camping has gone to $87.50/night...... and they've installed a pay toilet in the FBO!
Heh heh heh.

All I can say is Todd won't let anything out of his shop without it being perfect. It seems he likes custom work too.Can anybody comment on how Todd's Canopies and Airplane Plastics compare in terms of their capabilities, pricing, etc., especially for custom work?

I have available (cheap) a conical engine mount which fits an O-320 B1B which came off a flying Cozy 3.
Are the mounting dimensions for the LEZ the same as a Cozy 3 ? Might be.
I know they're quite different from a Cozy 4.
I don't know if there is a difference in dimensions between the B1B and B3B.
Might be worth some research, though.
Fein on Ebay
in For Sale (or for Free)
Posted
I've been using the Fein for 8 years. The only thing I wished for was an easier way to change from sander to cutter. It's a bit cumbersome with the allen wrench.
My advice?
The quick change feature is WELL worth the extra expense as compared to the standard model. Especially considering you'll be usung this tool for years to come.
