Joe Cygan Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 Group, I noticed that there is a “best Before” date on my MGS hardener. Is there a rule of thumb to use this after the date? Joe Cygan Cozy MKIV #1022 Quote Joe Cygan Cozy MKIV #1022 Southern California

LargePrime Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 Have you talked to MGS about this? There is a rep who worked close with nat you might get in touch with. It will be in the news letters. I did not know air would effect hardners. I thought both were inert untill mixed. Quote We know who you are...
dust Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 I talked to them about this a long time ago, the reason they put a date on the can is a LARGE customer required it. it is good waaaaay past the date on can enjoy the build dust Quote maker wood dust and shavings - foam and fiberglass dust and one day a cozy will pop out, enjoying the build i can be reached at http://www.canardcommunity.com/
Joe Cygan Posted February 21, 2004 Author Posted February 21, 2004 Thanks for all the information. Also, the other Cozy group stated that the date was put on there to keep our government happy. It seems I’ll be fine for a good while. Quote Joe Cygan Cozy MKIV #1022 Southern California
John Slade Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 hardners/isosinides kick when exposed to moisture[air].i just lost a qt opened and closed and sat for 4 days. its now jello, and no warranty.... Which epoxy system was that, Steve? I use MGS 335. My hardener lid has been fairly loose for years. Sometimes I've left it off altogther. I live in S. Florida where the humidity is pratically tangible. Never had any problem with "jello" hardener other than a bit of crytalization which can be remedied by heating. LargePrime Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 If you have a gallon that went "jello", when others have not doing the same thing, then it seems possible that there was a batch error, or it is counterfeit. There could be another explination but these possabilities force me to suggest that you should/must contact MGS directly. And soon. Quote We know who you are...
