I have no personal experience, but I can pass on a few things I've heard:
1) Lean the engine in cruise
2) There are a few things you can do to decrease drag. I seem to recall Mike Melville built a custom oil pan so that he could make a more streamlined lower cowl. Nose gear door, main gear hoop fairings, and good wheel pants will help. Optimizing cooling can help as well. The design is pretty clean in the base case, though.
3) Make sure the airplane is built clean, light, simple, and is rigged as perfectly as you can.
4) Fly at a more rearward CG
5) Fly high -

(more pictures in the listing)
Varieze Project purchased from an estate and there are no logs. Fuselage kept undercover in garage, wings, canard, etc., kept in dark (ie no sunlight), dry basement. Fuselage is on wheels but still needs work. Wings, winglets and canard are glassed. Have canopy but no engine. Have plans, templates and extra pieces (extra set of wing connect hardware, wheels, front strut, misc hardware). No instruments or engine. I do have pieces of a Continental C-85 for $2000 (2 cases, crank, jugs, misc). There is still more than 51% to complete. It’s a good base to start from.
I have too many projects and will never get to this. Please E-mail due to amount of scammers texting. I will not ship and will need cash upon pickup due to the scammers out there. I do not need help selling, either.

If you can make it to Airventure in July, you'll be able to try a Long-EZ on for size, along with just about any other plane you can imagine.
I'd recommend you also join the various Facebook Groups and email lists--there's an absolute wealth of information there!

Wow! This could be the one. Can you tell for which engine the cowl is for?
The strakes are prefab units right?
Yes, those strakes are prefabbed.

This is a repost, but I think it's a price drop: Most of the fiberglass work done on an Long-EZ for $3k. That said, you'd probably want to build a new canard (the included one is a GU), and some of the layups look....wavy?
QuoteLONG-EZ PROJECT • $3,000 • PROJECT FOR SALE • GU canard, Task Strakes, Plans, Cleveland Brakes. Canopy was done with West Systems, bubble is green tinted. $5000 located in East Tennessee. • Contact Mac McEntire , Owner - located Kingsport, TN 37660 United States • Telephone: ---------- • Posted May 11, 2024 -
Why is the foam bonded to the glass with micro instead of flox? Because (at least the way I've heard it), between fiberglass, micro, flox, and foam, the foam is the weakest link. Replacing micro with flox would add weight (albeit not a ton) but the structure would be no stronger. In other words, whether you bond it with micro or bond it with flox, the foam will fail before anything else.

Gee whiz, it's a busy day for projects. This one's a mostly-complete airframe for $5k:
QuoteI have a longeze project for sale for what i have into it in utah 5000$ . This is a 90% complete 90% to go . Controls hooked up primed and partially painted , electric gear , strobes and nav installed engine mount , brakes all hooked up cowls , exhaust . Needs instruments , more paint , engine . Not ronz canard . No build logs but does have plans . I bought this and subsequently bought a registered varieze that needs a new engine and decided with other issues i have no time for it . Update ! Some people are panicking because they think the interior fuselage is exposed blue foam . Its not look at the photos its glassed properly and painted blue !
