  1. Chrissi, I need the ones that get pressed into the angle brackets. Actually, if you had the brackets and the bushings I would buy both;) but, I really need the bushings because I don't have a lathe. Thanks, Greg
  2. Wayne, I only have Long-EZ plans. Thanks. Greg
  3. Thanks T Mann but CGProducts do not list this part.
  4. I'm looking for the LMGB-B bushing dimensions and material callout but can't seem to find them in the archive materials I have seen so far, except for the .062" flange thickness as shown in The Cozy Newsletter #9. I want to install my landing gear attach brackets in the next few days but need to have some bushings fabricated. Better yet, does anyone have four LMGB-B bushings they could sell? Thanks, Greg
  5. Hello all: I would like a rudder pedal setup like James Redmon has on his Berkut. Does anyone know where I can buy the pedals and slip tubes, or who can manufacture these? Cheers, Greg
  6. Thanks T Mann. I appreciate your insight. I guess it won't hurt to put it in regardless, that way I have options. Just looking for ways to save weight and didn't know in this case. Thanks again. Greg
  7. Is a Nav antenna still needed now with all of the really good GPS systems out there? I am getting ready to start the canard in the next couple of months and don't want to install a Nav antenna if I really don't need it. I am not currently flying so I'm not up to speed on the requirements or desirements;)
  8. The bias ply material shown in glass only goes up to 1.5" wide, otherwise it looks like it would be perfect for taping seams. They do have Kevlar 2" wide but I don't know if this would be an exceptable substitute.
  9. In Canard Pusher #26 there is a section on the weights Mike and Sally got on some of thier parts.
  10. TMann, That weight seems good considering the extra dimensions. I just walked in the house from finishing the last big layup on my Long-EZ Centersection Spar. This would be the 2 ply UNI layup over the forward face. Feels good to almost be done with the spar. Now, need to decide whether to start the canard or assemble the fuse sides and bulkheads. Hmmm....
  11. Thanks for your replies all. I am trying to be as weight conscious as possible without sacrificing saftey margins. Are you using the 56 or 57 series (or other)?
  12. I am having a heck of a time deciding on wheels and brakes for my Long-EZ project having no experience with them. So far, I believe I have my choice whittled down to either the MATCO W50LD (dual brake assys) or the Grove 56 or 57 series. The MATCOs are heavier (8.9lbs ea) but apparently the wheels are made to fit the 11x400x5 tires better than standard 5" wheels and the MATCOs are less expensive. The Grove 57 series are only 7.2 lbs each. I imagine both would work very well. The cost is not the determining factor for me and maybe I'm putting too much thought into my selection. Any input would be welcome because there is nothing like experience (which I don't have in this case). Thanks in advance.
  13. EZ AHAB, Cut cores would be great, of course they would need to take into account the laminate thickness so there would be no mismatch, obviously. Are you thinking about making a straight leading edge for the long ez strakes like a Cozy MkIV? I'm giving the MkIV style strakes serious consideration. Mostly looking for a little more room for baggage rather than fuel.
  14. Yeah Waiter, I have considered this change as well. I need to decide which one I like better. Seems like the straight edges have more room as well.
  15. Getting ready to purchase some strake leading edges for my Long-EZ. Does anyone know what differences there are, if any, between the Featherlite and AeroCad parts?
  16. Yeah, heat blankets are great for cure, we used them on B-2 repairs often. I just don't want to do the wing layups with the hanger (garage;) ) door closed because I don't like wearing a respirator that long and I don't like the vapors without one.
  17. Thanks for the replies. I will order my cores next week and probably won't start on the wings until the outside temps get back up into the high 70's on a regular basis. I don't like doing big layups with the door closed and the heater on! May start on the canard when I get my cores. Thanks again:thumbsup:
  18. I'm not sure what would make Matco brakes for my O-320 Long-EZ application any better than Grove. The question really was whether anyone has had any problems with magnesium wheels.... corrosion, fire, other. They are the same price as the aluminum wheels of the same size but are one pound lighter.
  19. Getting ready to buy some feet for my Long-EZ. I've pretty much settled on Grove wheels and brakes. Would appreciate input on whether it would be a good idea to get the lighter magnesium wheels or is aluminum the better (safer) option. Thanks in advance
  20. Does anyone have any experience they would share with the purchase of pre-cut foam wing and canard cores in storage for a few months? If I get the cores and keep them in the shipping box with the cores sandwiched in their original blocks of foam do I run the risk of having warped cores after a few months?
  21. My thinking on this difference is that when the Long-EZ plans were published, there was no mention of removing the cross threads in the glass tape. Not removing the cross threads keeps the bundles from flattening out as much as if they are removed. Maybe this would not account for the mismatch but I know from test layups before I did the caps that the layups with the cross threads intact were thicker.
  22. I just finished laying up my L.E. centersection spar caps a couple of weeks ago and ended up adding one ply full length top and bottom and a couple of shorter plies on top and one shorter ply on bottom to fill the trough. Just did the 4 ply UNI over the top, bottom, and aft surfaces and bonded on the LWA's. Should have it finished soon. I was going to start the canard or wings next but I think I'll wait till the outside temps warm up in the spring. Will be attaching the fuse sides to the bulkheads and then finishing up the fuselage assembly next. Does anyone know if Bob Davenport still sells his extended nose plans?
