jasonlax
Hello, My name is Jason Lax and I'm interested in purchasing a Long EZ. I'm a US Army pilot and Test pilot (UH60) with the 101st Airborne, currently forward deployed to Afghanistan. I should be home in November and hopefully will have a purchase lined up by then. I need the EZ to fly about twice a month from Connecticut to Tennessee. Any advice or idea's would be welcome! Thanks, Jason
Waiter
Jason; Let me be the first to thank you for your service. The EZ is definantly what your looking for, You may try to contact Dave Orr, he is the "Keeper of the List". He charges a small fee, but he has the most complete list of EZs out there. Oh Yah, Maybe we can install a little hardware on this EZ, to make your deployment a little safer! jasonlax
Thanks for your response - I have contacted "The Beagle" and enlisted his service. I'm also trying to shop independently and learn as much as I can about the Long EZ. Hopefully I will be home by mid-November. Take care! Edge 513
Jason. Hope this forum has been of service to you in your deciding on a LongEze. I just want to go on record, saying thanks for you and your fellow servicemen out there in the Afghan boonies. As you have gathered there's a lot of imagined expertise, and then the real stuff in canard land. Waiters a good guy to PM about your questions. There's a good mixedgroup here as well. Also, you might get on the Canardmailing list if you haven't already. There's a even bigger, active, group there it seems. Well, best to you, and if you are interested in side by side seating at 200 knots cruise...come on over to the Cozy540 Area51 way of doin it!! [buy The Long now, and build the C540 over the next 10 years =)] Cheers!..and keep those dam sand spiders out of your boots... Quote Self confessed Wingnut. Now think about it...wouldn't you rather LIVE your life, rather than watch someone else's, on Reality T.V.? Get up off that couch!!! =) Progress; Fuselage on all three, with outside and inside nearly complete. 8 inch extended nose. FHC done. Canard finished. ERacer wings done with blended winglets. jasonlax
Thanks for the reply - I have a prospect really close to home in Tennessee and it sounds like it could be exactly what I'm looking for! I saw a couple sand spiders in Iraq in 06', it's a rough looking creature, haven't seen any here yet. I hear they have cobras here on the airfield in Jalalabad - haven't seen one. Question: A few years ago I attended a high altitude training school (HAATS) in Eagle, Colorado, and on the way out I landed at Leadville, Co., the highest airport in the U.S. - has anyone taken a LongEZ out there? I assume so, it appears you can take an EZ just about anywhere! Take care, Jason

Dragonflyer
Jason, First, thanks for your service. I did my time and understand a little about the hardships one must endure. Q: Did you know Mike Davis? It was sad news when I heard about his accident. I had been in touch with him through email, and was planning on meeting him New Year's, when we took the granddaughters home...they live just off I-65, just out of White House, Tn. I go there every couple of months, and I look forward to meeting you someday, too. If you're interested in an extra seat, there's a nice looking Cozy III on ebay. Currently no bids, but starting bid is about what you'll pay for an EZ. Finally, you'll have to plan on coming to our fly-in at TZV...first Saturday in June, which makes it June 5th this year. Take care, Darrell Doerhoff currently fly a Dragonfly, starting the Cozy soon.
jasonlax
Yes, I had been in communication with Mr. Davis during my deployment and had hoped to meet him as well. Oddly, I found out about the tragedy while reading on this forum. Terrible story. I'm trying to schedule a pre-buy inspection (for a VE) in southern Alabama, you wouldn't happen to know of anyone to contact? My family and I live in Springfield, Tn., which is only about 5-10 minutes from Pleasant View. I will be moving to Connecticut in March, but plan to commute as much as the weather will allow.
