Neverquit
The ultimate question..... Does anyone know of a website or a comparison chart where we can compare what aircraft engine would be the fastest for a Cozy? Nothing against auto engines, they're cool but it's just my decision for now. The way I see it, it looks like an injected 360 Lyco is the best choice. But I've heard of turbocharging it, new injection systems, etc. And why not a Continental and which one? Why not a 540 like the one at RR? Jon Matcho
Does anyone know of a website or a comparison chart where we can compare what aircraft engine would be the fastest for a Cozy? No, but do you really mean 'fastest', or some sort of measurement of 'best'? The way I see it, it looks like an injected 360 Lyco is the best choice.Ah, 'best'. I like that option too. How about Superior? What about the Lycoming 390? ...and why not a Continental...Popularity. Why not a 540 like the one at RR?Additional gallons per hour for little gain in miles per hour. Add that big engine and you need to either add a lot more ballast or change the location of the wheelbase. Nathan Gifford
The big problem with the 540 is weight. The 540 at RR was in a highly modified Cozy. The pilot (Chris?) did not elaborate on what mods he did do to the Cozy frames besides the obvious ones.
