  1. Seem to be more of a plans collector than builder at this stage. Have Cozy IV plans S/N 1449 But still considering the idea of an Open-eze. Jamie:confused:
  2. Been a while since lurking here but hi again. Anyway, What about two 2.5 ltr Subaru auto engines. More than adequate power. Al Wicks Cozy IV originally flew on one of these engines. That way single engine power is at least a certanty. Maybe even smaller Subie engine. Just thoughts. Jamie
  3. Do you know if Shirl is still contactable? I have sent off a coulpe of e-mails with no reply and the web site has gone. Jamie
  4. Adrian, Pretty sure I saw some funny looking people as I drove past Coopers the other day. I was in San-Deigo last year and the bar staff at the hotel I was staying at specifically imported some slabs of Coopers for the guys I was working with. They would not sell it to the locals only to us. Jamie Cozy-IV Plans #1449

Just ask my wife about the questions regarding the choice of aircraft I was going to build. In the end I think my wife was just happy that I had made my decesion and got on with it. In the end the deciding factor was side by side seating and cargo carrying. I would have loved the fighter type feel of the Long but that would have been at the expense of having my passenger all couped up in the back. Jamie

RAKAI, Yes, you are correct, when it comes to user names, I really have no imagination. There are a few Adelaidians floating around now. Good to see. I have not started the build either, spent a good 2 years procastinating on what aircraft to build. I was looking at the Long/Open-Ez but in the end decided apon the Cozy IV. If you need all the Canard pusher newsletters, let me know. Jamie
  8. I just put through my order for a set of Cozy IV plans. I have to say thanks to all those pleople out there that I have talked to regarding my decision to build a Cozy IV. I originally started out with the intent of building a Long/Open-Ez, but with discussion between my wife and I, as well as many other people I have decided to go ahead with the Cozy IV. I now have to wait approx 8 weeks for the plans to get here (Australia), which works out well as the plans are meant to be my birthday present. (isn't my wife nice. ) Current status for the Canard Construction facility (CCF) is that I am fitting out the insides with benches, power, lighting and such. Anyway I am now a Cozy IV wannabe. Jamie
  9. No longer required. Thanks Jamie
  10. G'day Velocity Dreamer, If you have the $$$ go prefab as much as possible and pay someone to put it up. I bought a 20'X30' garage kit here in Australia for approx $4000.00 AUS (from memory) But I still had to put it up and also still had to provide concrete, then put a slab in (Another $1500 AUS). I had never built a garage before so it took some mucking around. If you do decide to put one up yourself, reccomend you have at least two others helping you, makes life so much easier. You can see my garage at the thread below. Currently I am fitting out the inside of my garage. Jamie http://www.canardzone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1528
  11. I am currently looking for a complete original set of unused Cozy III plans. Jamie
  12. Did a bit more reading and I can see how maybe the LE type aircraft can have critical Mach number issues. Critical Mach number - speed at which the aircraft is flying to have air flow on airfoil accelerated to the speed of sound. Thus possible Mach Tuck issues. Jamie
  13. "Mach Tuck" From the little info I have I understand that the occurance of Mach Tuck is given to the situation where the Centre of Pressure transfers from the (approx) forward third of the wing section in normal flight to the rear third (approx) of the wing section as the aerofoil approches and passes through the speed of sound thus causing the aircraft to pitch down. Others out there may have a better explination but I cannot see how aircraft like the LE and a like would suffer from a situation like this as the speeds required to fly at would be well exilerating to say the least. Jamie
  14. Tony, Re West System Epoxy Refer Cozy newsletter #56. Jamie
  15. G'day Tony At this stage I am only going through the motions of planing, I have not started yet. Regarding the West Systems Epoxy, I beleive it has been approved for structual layups as per Cozy newsletters. I Will check on this but I believe it has been brought up a few times in various other threads. Jamie
