  1. I found the pdfs on wicks. Wow, thats going to make things a whole lot easier. Thanks again Lynn

    foam

I know this has been covered before, but i cant find the post or remember what was said. My question is finding the right size foam. Wicks, and Aircraft spruce carry the right foam but nothing is the .8mm or .2 mm long ez plans call for. Do you go with the next larger size and somehow plane it down. Ive been studing the plans for a while now before i start building. thanks in advance for any help Lynn
  3. if I wanted to buy an already flying aircraft but it dosnt seem to be finished( still rough skin not just to touch but sight). Do you have to remove the paint to finish it? and if so what is the best way?
  4. I was planning to use a different type engine anyway so making a motor mount and cowl is already in the plans.
  5. What performance differences have been noted with the baggage pods on. Do they slow you down much? increase fuel burn? Those that have them do they take them off and on or just leve them on. Lynn
  6. Waiter question about widening as you stated. On the canard without redoing to much math could you just add a inch or two to the center of the canard moving everything out like what you mentioned with the wing spar. Or would there me structure problems with this. I want to just make mine an inch or two wider. just add it to the center of all the bulk heads, center section spar, and maybe the canard. keep the same shape but just be an inch or two wider front to back. lynn
  7. I being a aircraft refueler have had the experience dealing with both. I also got to fly in a starship. ( starship and B-17 are my two most exciting rides). I personaly find the piagio just simply ugly. And as far as range goes, how many turbo props have that range once you start sacrafising fuel for payload. I think the fact that those who have actually flown the starship are not wanting to let go of them says the most.
  8. There are a few starships flying. I had one come in the other day to Fort Smith Arkansas. it was registered in Mexico though. This picture is sad. Waiting for the scrap pile
  9. Remember the posts arguing which of these two planes are sweeter.
  10. One thing that most people need to consider when choosing an engine would be the availability of avgas over the next several years. With the lead issue and the cost of manufacuring is going to put avgas prices on the rise. Fewer refineries are making avgas and the trend on fuel is to impove diesel. When I build, I plan on buying an engine that is either for 93 octane or diesel. I work at an FBO and order the fuel. I see the decline in availablity and fuel rise with no signs of comming down. thats my thoughts. Lynn
  11. I am still at least a year from even starting my plane. I am trying to sell my house right now. I just dont want to build my fuse and then 3 years from now find I cant fit what I want on it. How hard is it to cut a panel after ist been installed. I know how things change over a short period of time. Ive even wondered if the engine monitor I show on my panel would work with a Rotary engine. Im just trying to get every thought in my head cleard up before I start. If im going to take 3-9 years building something I want it to be perfect. Lynn
  12. The instrument Top Left is the autopilot control, smallest I seen on panel builder. I noticed that the Panel for the long-ez on panel builder isn't exact to the plans panel, it doesn't show the notches for the longerons, and I think is a little wider. I have a traced blank drawing of the panel on my wall behind my computer and I us it for reference also. I see that it would be easy to get rid of at least 3 items including the cd player. Honestly one of my biggest hangups and you all might think this is no big deal but I want it centered. I don't like a off center panel. Is dynan that good everyone seems to be using it. I think I like the display, graphics and colors of the other efis systems better. Thanks for all the imput so far Lynn
  13. Here is what I had in mind without using efis. The cd player you see would actually be one that has the screen that pops out. They are equipped with a small camera. I have seen a velocity with this cd/dvd player and installed the camera in the winglet. with it he could verify gear down and see behind the plane before starting his engine. Anyway this is what I thought looked like a good panel but would need a few more inches. Lynn
  14. Yes I was planning on making the fuse a little wider. I figured If I widened the instrument panel seat backs and firewall all 2 inches then it would keep the same basic shape. and give a little more elbo room and room for a bigger engine. As far as efis goes I like the blue mountain efis sport G-4. However Talking to the Avionics techs where I work, they dont like working on EFIS systems, and I know of two cessna citations that were converted back to regular guages from EFIS. I have played with the EFIS on panel builder but after adding backup guages Its just as cramped and not a nice looking panel in my oppenion I plan on flying IFR. Nothing major but gust to get through the clouds and get on top, I dont want to get stuck somewere because there is a low overcast. thanks again Lynn
