  1. try this ... left of the 'e' after 'ez' ... yeah, I know, but that's the link ... http://www.longezediesel.com/
  2. There's an Avanti that flies in and out of APF (Naples, FL) pretty regularly. I happen to live under approach / departure corridor for one of the runways ... there's no doubt when he's coming or going ... a sound like no other! Pretty pretty plane.
  3. +1 vote for online discussion / participation where possible.
  4. Building space envy .... your's is bigger than mine
  5. I watched that skywalkerjets guy's "Test 1/2" video ... first thought that went through my head was "this guy is going to die". I don't really know what else to say ...
  6. Pressurization is a pretty big deal ... not to be taken lightly even if you could get most of the leaks plugged. Completely changes the stresses on the pressurized section of cockpit ... you've essentially created a pressure vessel trying to contain differential applied accross entire surface area of inside of cockpit. Of course, as is stated over and over again, if you want re-engineer the whole thing and be a test pilot ....
  7. Anyone worried about the length of the moment arm between the downtube (strut) and the force vector extending up from wheel shaft? Unless something's beefier than it appears, I wonder ICO one good "proink" on the nose wheel if that bracket is going to shear or if the strut is going to fail. Either way, it'd be bad. I see the dampner spring in there, but would think that'd be an interesting balancing act between providing enough force absorption and length of the bracket / spring assembly iteself. Or not ? ...
  8. Gee ... sounds like a Berkut FG :-)
  9. Thank goodness it's not just me ... I thought maybe I was missing something, but "one of those things is not like the other one"... I suppose it could be some sort of optical illusion, but me thinks not?
  10. Kind of depends on what your goal is ... for most member here, I suspect the answer is an unqualified "no" ... Jets ( as opposed to turbo props, which is a totally different animal ) fly very differently than props, suck gas like crazy, make lots of noise .. and that's before we even start talking about maintenance, unsupported installation, etc.... Not to be taken lightly.
  11. I think this goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. All that backup stuff will do you no good unless you practice partial panel approaches under the bag (hood, visor thingy, whatever you use ...). The scan is bound to be different than what you use routinely. Hard IMC at mins is not the time to be learning a new instrument scan pattern.
