Ekisbey, I used a Franklin 6 in my canarad. I got it in parts and rebuilt the thing. The whole thing w/o accessories was below $10K. You can add automotive alternator, etc. to keep price down, etc. It seems to give quite decent power, but since it uses a bed mount might be on the heavier side (300+ lbs). Also Bruce Kown in GA sell a lot of them (770-386-7435) and Susan Prell in TX (A1 dealership) 903-626-5115. There may be others.

John, I was at KLS ten days ago for flight training. Now am just doing a few more adjustments before first flight. If some stuff that I ordered for RG mod arrives soon and I can get W&B done, AND decent weather, I'll be taking off. KLS did not show up at S&F because they did not get their new prototype FAA inspected in time - done now - and the factory SQ2000 busted the landing gear comming down in a storm and it took about 6 weeks to get all the parts and fix it.

All you great SQ2000 builders can now get free builder log software by downloading it from my SQ2000 website www.abri.com/sq2000. Its free to SQ2000 builders. A small contribution is expected from others.

Ventilation?... I tried something new. I used the NG wheel well for ventilation source. You can see the setup at http://www.abri.com/sq2000/control43.jpg The description is at http://www.abri.com/sq2000/18.html I just completed the SQ2000 bird and had it inspected. Getting ready for first flight. But in taxi tests the vents appear to work - should since the lower part of the fuselage is at higher pressure than upper.

I put mine in the center of the wing. The wing thickness is sufficient there for the antenna - I am building an SQ2000 canard, don't know if Cozy wing thickness is similar. I was told that the transponder antenna should be sufficiently removed from passenger compartment for radiation safety.

I am nearing construction completion of my SQ2000 canard and need the 12" high N numbers since I plan to travel outside US. I have seen one or two canard owners place them on the tail winglets diagonally. Is this according to FAA regs?

I have considered the Jabiru 5100. In fact I have placed a deposit on the engine. But after a year of waiting it got too long for me so I let the thing go and got my deposit back. The other factor about the engine is the power rating. Originally it was rated at 200/180 hp (takeoff and continuous) but when it actually came out for production it was rated down to 180/170 hp. That may be sufficient for many Cozies but not enough for my SQ2000. From what I know, the engine is very smooth and efficient. It also comes with a lot of standard accessories and unique two piece baffle - ready for mounting. For further comments on my engine choices, see http://www.abri.com/sq2000 (nearly finished)
