  1. Hi all Today as promised I start a new thread on my project. My plane was loaded onto a ship and is swimming towards Australia. Just to recap, I bought the fuselage and a multitude of components from Rob. Craters and Freighters in Boise Idaho packed my plane. See some pictures attached. I also bought a canopy from Todd's canopies and some spar tape. Craters held off on the packing until it arrived and included it into the original scope at no extra cost. In the meantime I am finishing off on some other projects at home to make time for the big build. Mrs E is looking for a property that will allow us to construct a bigger workshop to allow for the Plane Job This is FUN in capital letters.... Hennie
  2. Ok, I was looking for a blade bolted on. I see the insetr on a photograph on Wicks site. Thanks Hennie
  3. The EC definitely does not have the insert. It has a formed blade. Are we sure that EC is the same as Dritz??? Hennie
  4. I went to the local Spotlight shop and looked at the EC. The blade seem very flimsey. Here the price is $150 Aus... hennie
  5. good. There is another builder in perth going on Chapter 10 Hennie
  6. Not being an alternative engine apostle, direct drive with support bearings seems the way. Even more interesting is the V6 which some are saying will be in excess of 225 hp. I would, by direct comparison place it at 200hp although this will be a supercharged diesel.. pretty interesting. hennie
  7. h I will work from Perth and yes, in a few days I will start a new thread. Till then we'll dedicate this thread to Rob.... Canopy arrived in Boise; now waiting on the spar tape Great feeling hennie
  8. Well The toyota V8 twin turbo diesel pushes 200 kW/600 NM at 3400/1800 rpm. All aluminum engine. I saw a V6 prototype in Brisbane 5 weeks ago that should become available in July 2008, I have no idea what the engine weights are Hennie
  9. Not to worry. Good feedback on quality vendors and the application of that vendor's product is applicable Hennie
  10. I would, but if you see what's included I do not think/know whats not there. In the meantime I am racing to get my CNC project complete and then help my son to finish his go cart project. Hennie
  11. Argggggg Frustration Jeff of Craters and Freighters must be pulling out his hair. At least I cannot as I am slightly detremented in that department. Canopy from Todd is about 300 miles from Boise. The 3 inch tape is only shipping on USA wednesday. Let me tell you about Todd Silver. I called him earlier to ascertain the tracking number. I reached him on his mobile. He took a couple of minutes to identify me and then he went into another gear. as a matter of fact he let me know that he packed a second canopy into the crate for me as it was "just in his way and not perfect. Use it for experimentation he says..." Man, this is good! More feedback later hennie
  12. [Dawie Botes - LongEze driver. Nice plane too! Sakkie van Heerden - I will follow this up Thanks Chris
  13. Absolutely right. Hopefully my 3 " tape reach Boise on Tuesday and the packing will begin. Once it is ready to leave, a new thread will be born, or.. is that a plane>>>>
  14. Thanks Chris. I have a few good examples around to follow..
  15. The last few days saw some hectic activity. The kit was collected from Rob's place and taken to Boise. I procured a canopy from Todd's and had it shipped to Boise. I also purchased 3 " tape from Aircraft Spruce. It should be in Boise on Thursday/Friday. Jeff de Marini is holding off on the packing so that we can consolidate all in one shipment. Nice and professional people. See this link for some idea of what Craters and Freighters are about http://videos.idahostatesman.com/vmix_hosted_apps/p/media?id=1587555 Lets hold thumbs that the different packages get to Boise by Friday I will continue to give feedback under this heading until such time the shipment leaves USA. Hennie
  16. Oh yes and judging from the photographs it is a quality headstart Hennie E
  17. Here are some photographs of items in the kit you have not seen
  18. Hi all I am very pleased to say that I am the new owner of Bearair's old project. When he advertized the fact that he wants to get rid of his project, I contacted him immediately. Then followed numerous communications and huge logistics to put plans in place. Bearair is a great gentleman and supported the effort with local knowledge. Craters and frieghters from Boise Idaho proved a great resource. They knew exactly what was required to export to Australia, went for an inspection quoted and picked up the project on thursday. Meanwhile I arranged a canopy from Todd's canopies to be sent to Boise and I am in the process of arranging 3 " tape from Aircraft Spruce (East). all will be packed into two wooden cases and then shipped to Perth Australia. I will see it in about 8 weeks. All I can say is that I now have a great start to my project. I allready have the bulkheads for my plane and, according to photographs I have foam cut outs for another in the kit. The original owner has gone a long way towards fabricating/buying the metal kit; turtle deck engine cowls, wheel pants, nose cowl, leading edges, wig foam allready cut, from Featherlite,Wright noselift, Complete brake, tyres, caliper set. Sticks, fuelgages, too many to mention. Included was MGS epoxy (2 gallons) which I cannot transport. Give bear air a call. If ther is any interest I can post photographs of what is in the kit Thanks again to Bearair with all the trouble he went to Hennie Engelbrecht
  19. Nice thing about living down under is we get Santa to visit first... Merry Christmas all Hennie
  20. Geez, hope the landing gets easier with time on type........ Hennie
  21. Thanks for that one. I think the above site is slightly easier to navigate. In short Clickbond is an engineered solution including the fixtures you require to install the item easily and accurately. With "item" I mean Plural in a big way. Lots and lots of clever solutions.
