Quinton O
Hey guys. Had to create a new account because sign-in with Facebook doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm down in Oklahoma, and helping a friend with his Long EZ project. He purchased someone else's project and that person had acquired all the materials and completed through I think Chapter 5. The issue we're having is that for some reason it seems that the previous owner trimmed the LWY wood piece that's part of the main gear attachment flush at the back, instead of leaving the 1.6" that the plans call for, and that would ordinarily protrude through the firewall. I'll attach a couple of pictures once I can get a decent connection. My question is: Are we boned on this? I don't really see a way to fix this other than rebuilding the fuselage sides if these are structurally important.
Kent Ashton
The wood through the firewall only acts as a guide for building/attaching the firewall. As long as you can tell where the wood should have stuck out, it should be no problem. 1 Quote -KentCozy IV N13AM-750 hrs, Long-EZ-85 hrs and sold

I thought I recognized "Quinton O" (not many of those names around) 🙂 Thanks for reporting it, I'll look into that and see if I can merge your two accounts.
