New Cozy Driver

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say hello to everyone, just purchased a Cozy 3 and I'm actually in the process of ferrying it home from Oklahoma to New Jersey. Made it to VA and dropped the seller off and started heading north when I realized it was starting to get a little too dark for my liking in a new aircraft, so I'm staying over in Shenandoah, VA. I spent some time transitioning to the aircraft with the seller and feel pretty comfortable in it. Having no problems landing at the 5000 footers I've been using on the way home, a little nervous about bringing it into the 3500 foot home field, might feel like landing on a carrier deck at this point.

Anyway just wanted to into myself and thank the people in the community that helped me get this far, you know who you are.

If you haven't done so already, you should join the CSA, COZY mailing list, and canard-aviators mailing lists.

Who'd you buy your plane from, and where are you based in NJ?

I will certainly join those things, where do I go to do so?

I bought the Cozy from Jay Tevis, N397CZ. I'll be keeping it at 47N (Central Jersey Airport) for the time being. Its real tough to get hanger space in the area so will be parking it tied down with a good cover while I'm waiting for space to open. I've seen conflicting reports about this being an OK thing to do... anyone have any suggestions for keeping it safe outside while I'm waiting for hanger space?

Jon Matcho (canardzone admin) is right near 47N - give him a ride for me :-).

I kept my plane outside for 3 years - with a good cover, it's no problem at all. Just make sure that any water that collects on the floor inside has a drain hole from which to run out. And have good gust locks for the ailerons and rudders.

We operate from 3000' strips here (Johannesburg SA) all the time without problem, our elevation is probably higher too ... nothing under 4500' agl, most at 5000'+agl.

Good luck with the new Cozy, wishing you have as much fun as the rest of us do!

I live in my own little world! but its OK, they know me here!

Chris Van Hoof, Johannesburg, South Africa operate from FASY (Baragwanath)

Thanks! I've almost made it home. Landed in Lancaster PA, had a rain/snow cell blocking my way home and viz got really low. Conditions are supposed to improves so I'm gonna wait it out and check back with flight service in about an hour. Can't wait to get this thing on the ground at home base.
