Big Steve
I was wondering if any other builders had a problem with there tires fitting the Mkng that they bought from Jack Wilhemson? I bought mine a couple of months ago and finally got around to putting the tire on it. I did not buy the tire from Jack I bought it from Acs but it is the size that is supposed to fit the cozyIV nose wheel fork. The tire is strait across the bottom and on both sides it rubs badly enough on the fork I am going to have to cut the corners off in my lathe I guess. I sure do not want to cut into the nose fork casting. I am enclosing a picture for what it is worth. The Tire is a Carlisle 4.10X4 4 ply tread it only rubs on the corners the picture looks like the whole thing rubs. Remi Khu
... The Tire is a Carlisle 4.10X4 4 ply tread it only rubs on the corners the picture looks like the whole thing rubs. Steve According to the plan, Chapter 13, page 1, the nose tire is 10 x 3.5 x 4. I wonder if that'd make a difference? ACS has the McCreary 10 x 3.5 x 4 listed in their chapter 13 parts list. Big Steve
Remi's post= According to the plan, Chapter 13, page 1, the nose wheel is 10 x 3.5 x 4. I wonder if that'd make a difference? I bought these tires from spruce they are supposed to be the tires for the Cozy IV I wrote the numbers I could find on the tire. I dont want to buy another tire unless I know it is going to fit. I wrote Jack several days ago and have had no reply. Marc Zeitlin
I bought these tires from spruce they are supposed to be the tires for the Cozy IV ...Remi is correct - you purchased (or were sent) the wrong tire. See: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/builderkits.php?PN=01-01440 You want P/N 06-08100 and the tube that goes with it. Don't know what you have, but it's obviously not correct for the COZY MKIV. Big Steve
Marc: Thanks for the heads up. I did some research and I bought the tire from Wicks. I am over 50 now I have a right to have memory issues. The tire is the following. http://www.wicksaircraft.com/catalog/product_detail.php/pid=8025~subid=3008/index.html It is 4.10 x 3.50-4 4-Ply It should fit but obviously does not. I think I will round off the corners in my lathe and use it for a "builders tire" when I get the addiction done I will put on the brand new Mccreary that is called out in the plans.
