MarcB
I am completely hooked on the idea of owning a Long EZ, however, as a complete EZ novice I was wondering if someone would help with answers to the following questions: 1) I am 6ft 4" (230lbs) is there any hope that I could fit into a Long EZ? 2) What is the average cost of insuring a Long Ez? 3) Can the EZ operate from a grass strip? 4) How can I be sure that a Long EZ has been built correctly. Would a pre puchase inspection be effective? 5) I live in Europe. Is it possible to dismantle and crate a Long Ez? Sorry for the long list and thanks in advance. Regards, Marcus. Waiter
1) yes. You need to adjust the rudders and you should be OK. NOTE: some people has a tall torso and short legs, This may be a problem if your one of these! 2) I pay about $500 for liability ONLY. 3) yes, BUT - You really need very hard, very smooth, short grass. Turf conditions can impact your takeoff performance to the point that takeoff is impossible. 4) ALWAYS get a prepurchase, Although its impossible to inspect the structure, if you see quality on the outside, odds are real good you have quality on the inside. 5) yes. I don't know what a container goes for nowadays, but you may even consider having someone (or yourself) ferry the plane. MarcB
Waiter, many thanks for the information. Sadly I might just fall into the short leg long torso category. Is there any data available - i.e. seat to canopy measurements? Apart form on-line where is best to look for a solid EZ? Regards.

MarcB Marc, I thought that Andorra was just a mythical place in one of Pete Seeger's anti war songs. "I want to go to Andorra" Quote I Canardly contain myself! ColdLake-Tim
Sit on the floor with your' back to the wall...Measure floor to top of your' Melon (sitting height)......Leze is canted rearward a little (forget the degrees # think it's 39" though)....The cant/tilt means you get a little bonus headroom. There is a Limeo EZ, which is wider and a bit deeper. A few out there are building same......I saw a Limeo type project for sale on Barnstormers lately http://www.barnstormers.com Grass, why not? I have a grass strip 2550' and working on it every year getting it smoother....I'm in the 3rd week of annual Bobcat rental right now doing grassstrip work and half a million other thangs ;-) ColdLake-Tim
