  1. Do you have a vendor for the curved radiator cores? Joe Berki Limo EZ 13b
  2. No, I used the same 3/8" foam that is used in the Cozy. I just placed it into a jig while the inside layup was done. Eracer plans start with a 3" thick piece of foam and carve it to shape. Seemed like a lot of waste. Joe
  3. Goatherder, Attached is a pic that shows the results of curving the fuselage from the inside. You can see more at the thread Progree Limo EZ Joe
  4. It was probably 11" when you add the nose and the 4.5 between the front and back seats. I increased the width at the pilot shoulders to 24" but curved the fuselage giving me 26 to 28" at the hips. Firewall went to 22". I went deeper also about 4" more and sit more upright. The Kreidels were going to trim the canard but they never did. I corresponded with Sam when I built the canard. Joe Berki Limo EZ
  5. I lengthened my Limo EZ by 4.5" and added an extended nose. The canard went further forward and was increased to 147". This was done per the original Limo EZ that Sam Kriedel designed and later evolved into the Berkut. All mods were done to preserve the rotation qualities, CG and MAC of the original LongEZ. 6. Thanks again. Steve yes I built the plane in the garage but had to stop as we removed the roof and put an addition on the house. That set me back one year. Next door neighbor owns the cornfiels and is a John Deere dealer. In the last pic you can see the taxiway to runway 7 at LPR. Now if I can get them to put a gate in the fence. Joe
  7. Thanks for the encouragement and it is a long way to go. I took more pics outside but winter is here so I don't think I can do much more painting. The blue is more toward the teal side. Joe
  8. I finally got most of the paint on. still have color sanding and some trim to do like the canard tips and a stripe on the side. Joe
  9. You might try installing the pin with the canard in a different position / orientation as the pin tends to sag with gravity making the holes harder to hit. i used Cpzy plans for the canard and there are 2 small washers on either side of the hinge horns. Joe Berki Limo EZ
  10. Use supper glue to hold the washers in place while you thread the pin in Joe Berki Limo EZ
  11. Shot the white today, cold weather is on it's way.
  12. Sorry, this site won't let me post pics again
  13. I attempted painting today. Fresh air supply with full face mask is the way to go. Joe Berki Limo EZ
  14. Steve, I will post pics but I don't think I can shoot today as i found more imperfections that need attention. Joe Berki Limo EZ
  15. I loaded a small quantity of PPG Concepts into the Binks 18 and shot some small parts. This paint is easy to use and looks great. If the surface is preped to 400 grit possibly 320 it should cover. I will try to paint the bottom tomorrow. Joe Berki Limo EZ
  16. Don't forget the P Port now that we have a 2.85 to one gear box available. 230 HP + is possible. Joe Berki Limo EZ
  17. I took those pics at Osh last year. Scion Aviation LLC is the company. I believe the fuse was an example of what they can do. Sorry to cause so much trouble. Joe
  18. Does anyone have any recommendations on spray guns for shooting PPG Concepts Acrylic Urethane? I have a Binks 18 and the literature calls for a 1.3 - 1.6 mm tip. I have seen paint sprayed with HVLP and most of them had orange peel. Thanks for any help. Joe Berki Limo EZ
  19. Chris, The plans baffles in the strakes should slow the fuel traveling from one side to the other. I have a capacitor in each tank that will be part of a fuel gauge system so that i can monitor the levels in each tank. There are sight gauges in the strakes. When you start to get into developing the plane you want form a set of plans it probably does not make much of a difference from which plan set you start with. If you are building strictly to plans pick the one that you like and try not to deviate. You will be flying sooner. Joe Berki
  20. Chris, Yes, The Limo EZ is 2" deeper at the side and maybe a little more do the the curvature in the floor. As far as fuel systems there are a lot of opinions out there but you have to balance safety with pilot work load. I am using a fuel injected engine that rquires returning fuel to the tank. This would require a lot of lines in the cabin. I made a gallon sump that bridges the two tanks via large openings no metal lines. It feeds out the back through the firewall. I have yet to fly so take this info at your own risk. Joe Berki
  21. To gain legroom for the backseater make the front seat more upright. Increase the depth of the fuselage by1.5 to 2" by making the top and bottom longeron further apart. This also moves the thrust line up so you have more prop clearance. The nose strut currently available seems to handle this increase. Joe Berki Limo EZ
  22. You could curve the fuselage sides or stagger the seating, Instead of placing the foam against the masonite forms use a curved template every 5" and pinch the foam so it follows the curve. Joe Berki Limo EZ
  23. Jack, Very sad about the loss of your Eracer. I followed your progress over the years and marveled how your plane took on a life of it's own. Your creation will be missed. I am very happy that you got out of it alive and your experience throughout the years of development of your dream can live on. Joe Berki
  24. If what you are interested in is a stretched Long EZ with a larger heaverier motor you need to look at the Jan 96 CSA newsletter that describes Sam Kriedel's Limo EZ. It is stretched 4.5" but the canard went further forward an additional 2". The CG goes forward but the M.A.C has to go forward so he accomplished this by lengthening the canard. The main gear CL was moved forward so the rotational characteristics could be retained as well as it not flipping backwards when MT. Sam used a 0 360. Joe Berki Limo EZ 13B
