  1. Wow! I can't believe the cost of taper pins from ACS. Over $5 per pin.

Yes, multiply that by 8 pins for the control tubes. Don't forget about the castellated nuts, special washers, and cotter pins. You will also need a taper reaming bit. The outcome is fantastic, well worth the expense IMO. Besides, it's pittance relative to other components. :o

Taper pins for the rudder pedals is a great idea, I'll have to remember that when I install my Oelman's.

  2. ... The Tire is a Carlisle 4.10X4 4 ply tread it only rubs on the corners the picture looks like the whole thing rubs. Steve

    According to the plan, Chapter 13, page 1, the nose tire is 10 x 3.5 x 4. I wonder if that'd make a difference?

ACS has the McCreary 10 x 3.5 x 4 listed in their chapter 13 parts list.

REMINDER....12 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released

to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls.

AND YES.....YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:

    888-382-1222

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your

time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the

cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a

different phone number. It takes about 20 seconds

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.

I personally checked out the number at the FTC WWW site below.....

  4. Bring a snorkel! They walk, talk, sleep, phart canards; total immersion.

    Rick

Well, Rick, that's not quite a true statement. "They" don't all do that... some of "them" do take time off to have cocktails :) Let's not make it sound too serious! :cool2:

I'm looking forward until the landscape below isn't iced or snowed over from above.

See you and the gang at RR '08! :D

  5. Welcome aboard!! I can't help you with a flying canard/Cozy but I happen to have a Cozy IV project in my basement.

EAA 868 is a nice group of active builders, unfortunately it's comprised of ~90% RV builders. I've been a member for some years and have developed an allergy to aluminum. :D

PM me your phone number if you want to hook up for a project visit, or check out my poorly updated construction page at http://www.tinyurl.com/8ox25

  6. To whom it may concern, whoever reposted my last message elsewhere please remove it from that site immediatly. While I do appreciate you support and enthusiasm (thank you!), if I had wanted my words spread around in print I would have done it myself.

I suppose one way to prevent it is to not contribute at all, is that what you wish?

    Christine

I concur Girrrls... although this is a Cozy canard community, there are some who will cross-post to the other unscrupulously unethical forum... in the interest of information dissemination. It is with a heavy heart that I, too, insist that passage of editable information be refrained from dissemination without prior consent from the author(s). That is, of course, at the risk of losing the input from a valuable vendor.

  7. No need to reiterate, Rhemi. I am (hopefully everyone else is) aware of your stance. And my statement was not directed at you.

My reason for wasting time here was to try to bring this issue back to earth. I really appreciate the cookouts. Somewhere on one of these forums, someone, a while ago, suggested the profits from the RR cookout be given to pilots which were giving rides. SHEESH!! What about the children who need healthcare!

    Who speaks for them??!!!:D;)

Thanks 'Skip' for clarifying. The last thing I want to do is alienate from the bloc of awesome people that I got to meet in my construction journey. The relationship, at time, is better than with my own family.

Although I have strong opinions on the healthcare access issue, expression of such belief will undoubtedly reap the wrath of my extreme left-wing friends.

  8. The whole premise of this type of event is it lives, or dies, on donations and good will. Some people donate food/time, others donate cash. That's it. No divvying up the Treasure. No voting. No debating. Just eating and camaraderie. If you pony up a Lobster dinner without a previous arrangement for reimbursement..... you just donated a lobster dinner. It's bad manners to ask for a rebate from someone you just gave a gift. (Unless you're a politician. :irked: )

I'll reiterate that I did not expect or want compensation/reimbursement for my contribution. My bone of contention is in line with the Cozy Girrrls' observation of the treasurer's attitude. Enough said.... moving on.

  9. Elimination of the centerline heat duct will also substantially weaken the structure of the fuselage, too. The heat duct is an integral part of the stiffening of the fuselage floor. I would NOT recommend removing it, no matter what you use for heating.

Ooops, forgot about the all-important structural function of the heat duct. Thanks Marc for pointing that out. My bad! :o

  10. . . . I am trying to figure out how to make it a 3 seater. Build On. STeve

Elimination of the centerline heat duct will allow for a bench seat in the aft section. Provision for cockpit heating will have to be considered. There are quite a few mods involving installation of secondary oil cooler and blower in the nose. I recall that Nick Ugolini has a nice set up.

OTOH, I suppose it's also easy enough to build a one-piece rear bench seat over the heat duct...

  11. As an active participant/provider in the past 2 luncheons, I had no expectation of reimbursement. Unfortunately, the issue of contributions have tainted the spirit behind the motive. I, for what it's worth, will not be involved in future collaboration with said activity.

'Tis a shame that such a wonderfully innocent idea has evolved into a perceived for-profit endeavor and effectively induced a state of unreasonable expectation.

I would like to make a proposal of confining future luncheon activities as private gatherings, i.e., potluck.

It's apparently unrealistic to appease the masses...

  12. Ok, since we're talking cost here. I usually hang on to, and use the stuff I build so, resale is not my game. I do need to know what a cherry cozy 4 w/ o-360, cs prop, glass pannel, and applicable radio's will sell for? This info is for my sweetheart- as she would be the seller in the event of any fatal bad luck on my part-(other activities, skiing, hanggliding, sports car racing, etc, etc.).-Guy

Why would you even bother with such a low risk endeavor such as experimental homebuilt aircraft? With the resources available at your disposal, why not just jump off a cliff somewhere?

Be real... this is a homebuilt forum, not bragging about our toys ...
