  1. I have an almost unique Long-Ez with O-200. This config may look like crazy for some of you ...

Erm, I think I'm missing something here, what is unique/crazy?

Glad you are enjoying your machine.

  2. Maybe you should print a copy of the two EFIS screens and stick it on his console.

They are marvellous figures, but I hope she'll take me for a spin sometime so i'd better be nice:cool:

Was just talking to your ATC on the way east who is sharing my night shift tonight, and he was impressed at your journey too.:envy:

  3. The F220 is rated for engines up to 260hp...

...and fits on a splined shaft, not a flange.

I note the owner is planning to fit an F200 on his 0-360 Bellanca, so he doesn't read his own alerts...

  4. ...On the other hand, noted in the 'News' tab:

    ALERT - ALERT - ALERT

AEROMATIC MODEL F200 ON 0-320 AND 0-360 LYCOMING ENGINES

BACKGROUND: I spoke with Univair, previous owner of the Aeromatic propeller, concerning the use of the F200 on the above named engines. In 1963 Univair pursued the certification of the F200 on a Beech 23 equipped with an 0-320-D2B. This is a 160hp engine. The tests that Univair conducted proved that this particular engine/propeller/airframe combination is not compatible.

  5. The application list are all certified types and at least one of them, the Piaggio P 136, is a pusher.

I have seen such props that have the vanes on the nose, and expect they wouldn't work, but this is something different, check out the FAQ. If this isn't snake oil it would be brilliant on a canard. Cost is reasonable. I'm excited!

  6. Was looking at the Bosch cutter today, they look like the dog's knackers to me. Man in shop says they cut 3mm acrylic!

    Didn't buy one because:

 I've got the imitation Dritz already, and

 I'd just bought the Bosch Multi imitation Fein. Cost AUD149.http://www.bosch-do-it.com.au/boptocs2-au/Product.jsp?country=AU&lang=en&ccat_id=95226&object_id=14153

I note the supplied disc doesn't look as invulnerable as the Fein HSS, the manual says use the optional diamond disc for fibreglass, can't get 'em yet, and didn't need it for the job I bought it for...

Had to go to bed before trying it out on some offcuts Drew gave me, which are already the size of sardine fillets. I'll have to come around and chop some bits off your boat Drew!

  7. 15. Reads bios, if you are out-cold (sleep, heart attack, too high no O2) plane takes over and can be landed remotely.

Just imagine the kids with a notebook in the back seat: "Your computer has found a new device [COZY IV], press 'enter' to configure"...

I believe the US Department of Ultra-Nationalistic Fervour is pushing for a similar device for airliners.

  8. My friend designed the autopilot system for the Rutan Voyager, he said that aircraft would go unstable in a few seconds without pilot input. So you can do the same with any autopilot with mechanical linkage.

The way I read the story of the flight Voyager was only unstable (as in dynamically unstable - I think I've got that right) for the record flight when it took off at the highest weight it ever flew at. Dick HAND FLEW it when this was the case, wouldn't let Jeanna have a go, let alone your mate's autopilot.
  9. Maybe we finally came up with a good reason to get rid of all these golf courses. I don't golf anyway.

In my locality, in the last 10 years we have gained one golf course and lost one airfield, (not in the same place). The airfields that remain don't look much different to 10 years ago, just a little more run down. The other golf courses all look a bit nicer, despite 8 years of drought. I don't know that golf courses are big money earners, but people seem to like to live near a golf course and don't seem to like being near an airfield.

Whether practical or efficient or sane, if enuf well-heeled punters stump up their $194k it can only be good for airports, even if they skimp on the parking for real aircraft:p

  10. Stick this guy in the right seat. Might still need some ballast...

Can't think why somebody would try FBW in a homebuilt, and expect it would end in tears.

Read on another forum, what does an inexperienced Airbus pilot say?

"What the f&*^ is this aircraft doing!"

And what does an experienced Airbus pilot say?

    "Its doing it again!!!"

  11. Well, this thing flew with negligible strakes, probably for the same reasons you suggest:

For the Cozy, I understand the fuel sits at F.S. 103, which is already behind the aft c.g. limit. I expect the strakes only exist as they do as a means of placing this variable near the c of g. Cropping the tanks as you suggest would move the arm of the fuel several more inches behind the aft c.g. limit. I reckon it is a bad idea.

I tried to figure out how much volume you would lose but lost interest I'm afraid...

  12. I have read also that the Roncz stalls at a higher angle than the GU (which sorta contradicts what my instructor beat into me about stall angles...) I expect installing the Roncz at the same incidence as the GU would make it more likely your wing will stall before the canard: Not good:scared:

  13. They had issues where they would sag and spread, more so than the Featherlite ones would.

Not sure that's fair. I have no first hand knowledge, and have seen an email from Nat claim that it is so, but also understand Marc Z has an Aerocad strut and reports no problems, and John Slade has reported sagging on his Featherlite.
