  1. It has come to my attention that some of us are having problems logging out of the forum. I have also experienced this problem first-hand.

I have tracked the issue down to the management of browser "cookies", specifically caused by browsing the forum at http://canardzone.com/forum or http://www.canardzone.com/forum. Both will work, but switching between the two causes problems with subsequent log-ins.

If you are having problems logging IN to the forum, clear your cookies. Using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can do this as follows:

    1) Select the Tools > Internet Options... menu

    2) Press the 'Delete Cookies...' button to clear ALL your cookies.

To log OUT of the forum:

    1) Go to the main forum page (www.canardzone.com/forum)

    2) press the Log Out link.

You will now be logged out, but pressing the Back button will log you back in. In order to stay logged out, you must now close your browser window.

So Marc, the Zeit part is easy, but the 'in' with the long 'i' is confusing for me. Is it like 'site' + 'line'? Zeitline?

    Confused in Jersey.

  3. After e-mailing Carl Denk, I understand instructions for applying Uli's Cosy Classic chapter #18 plans to the Cozy MKIV to be as follows:

Use the MKIV canopy/turtleback, just deleting Nat's hinges, and adding the front hinges, hard points, inside structure and latches, etc. which then will fit the cowling. Otherwise you will need to make your own cowling, and if you're going to that, thats a whole new subject to talk about.

Perhaps there's very little to do in order to get things working (without a separated/gull back seat door).

Also seems straightforward enough to me to marry up with a rollover structure and separate back seat canopy section. I might even set the back seat to use a regular piano hinge, as I agree w/Jim that there wouldn't be back seat passengers most of the time.

  4. Here's another canopy example -- per Uli's plans except for an extended canopy and reduced turtleback: www.cozybuilders.org/scaglia/index.html

    Answering the questions:

    >How can I get a look at these plans? How much?

    >2. Are the plans specific to a MKIV?

No, they're straight out of the Cosy Classic plans (chap #18) from Uli Wolter

Carl Denk is a wealth of knowledge on this mod it seems. He provides an improvement to these plans for how the gas strut operates. Contact him directly for that. Regardless, it appears to me that any adjustments to fit a Cozy IV can be self-designed without too much difficulty.

    >1. What type of rear seat access is provided?

No gull doors if that's what you're asking, but this may be required if the overall size/weight of the canopy is too much.

    >3. Do the plans have any details about required changes to the original MKIV plans?

No. I did hear that Jeff Russell may have MKIV specific plans though.

    >4. Any additional rollover protection included in Uli's plans?

Nothing to speak of, but from the picture preceding, but you should be able to add something there if you wanted.

    >5. What did these plans cost?

    >How can I get a look at these plans? How much?

Cost is "less than $50" -- send an e-mail to Uli.

    >I saw the pictures w/ the back access door, I was just wondering if thats what the Uli plans included.

As far as I can tell, the Uli plans do not include the back gull door.

I received plans for the forward hinged canopy from Uli today. They're very well done, as good as the Cozy plans themselves.

    Here's an example: www.maddyhome.com/canardpages/pages/waynehicks/wilson.htm

  6. Joe, yes, point noted -- there is no source of information so overwhelmingly powerful to obviate the need for other sources of COZY information. The best aspect of all of this is that there are so many sources of information available. Yay.

  7. <Administrator Mode OFF>

Let us not forget that there are those here among us who have chosen, for whatever reason, not to receive COZY-related information from Marc Zeitlin's e-mail list, available at www.cozybuilders.org

The phrase "goes bye bye" means nothing to anyone not on that list.

Regardless of the commotion that might be going on over there, and until this forum achieves total world domination, I couldn't imagine not subscribing to the COZY mail list. At least the other half of the information is over there, and let's face it, Nat Puffer and Burt Rutan do not post here.

  8. Yes, I can fiddle with the internal font controls for QUOTEs. In the meantime there is a trick that can be done now. Put your reply text immediately after the <QUOTE> tag and you'll save a line. Looks like heck in the editor, but fine on screen. Use the Preview Reply button to test your results.

Never thought I'd be quoting myself, but... this turns out to be a forum-wide setting. I turned it on for a moment, and all attachments are indeed rendered in-line, but I don't particularly care for that myself.

It is possible the soon-to-be-released forum software will allow this to be turned on for an individual forum section. Will keep this in mind.

I'll begin downloading the Internet into the forum database tonight. I expect that process to finish sometime in the next millenium. :D

Seriously, linking is the reason why the World Wide Web has blown everyone away. It's a beautiful thing to establish a link to another site and have the resulting information maintained independently.

Mike, we can schedule an experiment in a single forum that will auto-display attached graphic files rather than requiring a link, however, I prefer the link and so this may best be left to a vote as John Slade suggested.
  11. Everyone, I knew that my post would NOT kick anyone off as there are loads of graphics on this forum. I also didn't do an attachment, but a reference to a graphic out there on the 'net. This feature has been with us all along -- just never used. Use the IMG button in the message editor.

Regardless, this can no doubt be abused and cumbersome for everyone (not just the bandwidth challenged). I'm not sure if I'd recover from a large sized version of the infamous 'Sanding in the Nude' picture.

For the most part, I think attachments and external links are the best, but we can certainly put this to vote if need be. In the meantime, let's use only in the Coffee House.

  12. We could. I'll look into it. For now, the Coffee House allows you to embed references using the IMG control in the message editor, which you can use to reference a URL to a graphic on the 'net. I don't see why not, and will consider as part of the hierarchy update tentatively scheduled for this weekend.

  13. >pety pety...

I believe this can be translated into some sort of insult in English, but am not certain how to take it.

    >what about a simple list of registerred names and city/state, if the people choose to have one? then you can just go to the pm system and pm or email them ifin they have chosen to have it on the system

Bob's idea is better, and the membership self-maintains the list with each willing member submitting their own profile information.

    >security has NOT been an issue here

I now leave this topic, speechless.

I disagree. Your mail host reported to the system that your e-mail address was invalid. I sent re-activation codes out immediately, as well as you being made aware to contact support@canardzone.com if you needed help. Regardless, it's evident that you were able to re-activate without any involvement on my part.

You BANNED me, without warning or reason, because I didnt give in to your and Zetlins bullying.

Not for an instant were you banned -- you had complete control as to when your account would be re-activated. If you were banned, you wouldn't be back here as 'LargePrime'. Nobody has ever been banned here.

You didnt like what I said...

No, I didn't, from community, administrative, and personal perspectives -- you touched them all. Bottomline, I felt your public rant against Marc Zeitlin was detrimental to the entire canard community.

Sure love the new forum. And the new ADMIN.

I dont need this forum as much you need to dominate people Jon. I can't see me coming back to an enviroment like this.

I am sorry you feel this way, and I personally wish for you NOT to leave.

Everyone can rest assured I am not as LargePrime implies here. I have taken extra time to carefully express my position, not entirely for/to LargePrime, but for the benefit of this forum's membership and the canard community at large.

  15. There are two issues here:

#1 -- Be considerate of others.

#2 -- Membership in the forum requires a valid e-mail address.

I should NOT have confused matters by mixing these two issues within the same post, but this does not change the outcomes:

    a) With issue #1, the outcome was simply my posting "Please refrain from posting further tirades."

    b) LargePrime is able to resolve issue #2 on his own, without any intervention from me. He simply has chosen not to so far.

As part of forum registration, users are required to provide a valid e-mail address. This is the only way to receive the activation codes. If after receiving the activation codes, a member decides to circumvent the system by deleting or providing a false e-mail address, this situation will eventually be discovered as part of normal maintenance.

Additional information relating to the legal aspect of this requirement can be found here: www.ftc.gov/ogc/coppa1.htm

In addition to LargePrime, there are ~10 other users who have chosen NOT to activate their accounts. However, NONE of these users intentionally circumvented the system -- they simply did not complete the registration process, for whatever reason.

I sent activation codes again to LargePrime, but unless his e-mail address has somehow become valid, I expect that e-mail to bounce. LargePrime was on the forum today, reading posts, but has yet to acknowledge or deny to me whether his e-mail address is valid.

Resolution of this issue has been and continues to be in LargePrime's court.

  16. This bothers me too and is another item that I am looking into. I can say that I have used the COZY list to arrange project visits while traveling in Florida, North Carolina, and Arizona. This would have been difficult here.

To see our inferiority called out and Marc gloating over it :) is all I need to bring this feature request higher on the list of improvments.
