Pavel
I need a set of Dynafocal "sandwich" style rubber engine mounts for a Long-EZ with E2D Lycoming O-320. The existing ones are worn and unusable, markings unreadable. Spruce lists "50402-5 ASSY" as "used on many homebuilts including the Defiant and Long-EZ":https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/dynosandwich.php VIP Mounts website indicates "VIP 50402-5" are similar to "Lord J-7402-16" and "Barry 94150-01".https://vipmounts.com/aircrafts-mounts/ Is "VIP 50402-5" the right choice? Kent Ashton
As I understand it, the airplane manufacturers specify very slight differences in rubber composition for vibration control and that's why there are so many different mounts. I think most of us the J-7402-X version sold by Spruce for the O-320s. Just check that your dynafocal cups are the 2 3/4" size. I imagine any isolator for an O-320 engine would work just as well. You might find some on ebay but I'd avoid really old ones. A few years ago, I swapped my top and bottom isolators. Yeah, I am cheap. This PDF gives some info on sizes. https://www.herberaircraft.com/documents/categories/LORD_Engine_Mounts_General_Aviation.pdf Quote -KentCozy IV N13AM-750 hrs, Long-EZ-85 hrs and sold

Pavel
Decided to go with the "LORD ENGINE MOUNT J-7402-24" from Aircraft Spruce. This design has the inner part rubber coat filled with some kind of gel or memory foam or whatever it is 🤷♂️ j-7402-24_lord_mount.mov
Kent Ashton
Quote This design has the inner part rubber coat filled with some kind of gel or memory foam or whatever it is 🤷♂️ Yeah, I've seen that before. It must have some vibration-control function but I bet it is minimal. The two rubber donuts are clamped together on the steel center bushing that is inside the rubbery stuff so I expect most of the flexing is in the larger donuts. I think I have seen Vans owners asking about the "rubbery material leaking out of [my] engine mounts". 🙂 Nothing to fret over, I guess.
