Bill Percival
Finishing up a remodel of my 1987 Long EZ. Added a new cowl and prop extension. What kind of clearance do I need prop to cowl? Right now, it's about half an inch, could trim it a little more.
Kent Ashton
I think mine is about 1/2" but I don't know a best answer. Even with in-cowl exhausts, overheated props do not seem to be a problem. I saw pics once of a hub that got scorched. I think the reason was because the prop bolts got loose and it was creating friction between the hub and flange at every engine pulse. I tried to do some searching but these days, I find that google doesn't catalog a lot of the canard sources. I bet cowl clearances has been discussed a hundred time but I could not easily find anything. You would probably do better to do a google image search for "Long-ez Longez longeze) and just check the pictures. Bill Percival
Super, thanks! I'd be interested in clearance that folks are flying with.
