Lynn Erickson
Any good deals out there on 406MHz locator beacons?I am waiting to see if the ACK unit really sells for $ 560 when they get their certification. it is going to use the existing remote panel from the ACK or the Ameri- king units. ACK says it should be released in July. one drawback to the ACK is they use expensive battery packs but they are good for 5 years. the Ameri-king uses 4 d cell batteries. One of the problems I see with these units in a canard airplane is the antenna, the supplied antenna is made to mount outside on a metal airframe. www.ackavionics.com/ Quote Evolultion Eze RG -a two place side by side-200 Knots on 200 HP. TMann
I've been using the 'Find-Me-Spot' for a couple years now. I clip it to the visor of the rent-a-spam-can and set it for track. It posts my position every 10 minutes. If I'm running late, my wife can log onto the site and see where I'm at. If I don't show up at all and don't manage to hit the mayday option, I can't be more than 10 minutes from my last plot. I'll still get the real deal when my bird is ready for it.
