helofixr
The Air Force has announced that one of the most unique Long-EZs around, powered by a pulse-detonation engine (PDE) designed by the Air Force Research Lab, will be displayed at the AF Museum at Wright-Pat. I was able to shoot the one and only flight of this unique and noisy bird, pics are up at http://mojaveskies.blogspot.com/2008/05/air-forcescaled-composites-pde-long-ez.html Alan
Phil Kriley
We just visited the Museum last week, and sure enough, there was the Long-EZ! Right next to a North-American X-15, Bell X-2, Douglas X-3 'Stiletto', the X-29 and various other exotic research aircraft. I did a search on the museum's web site, but there are no pictures of it yet, so I posted an entry in their 'blog' asking them to create an entry for it. Lifessamsara
I recall seeing a picture of this over a year ago. Does anyone know how the trials with this configuration actually performed? I'd be interested to know. Cheers, Bruce.
