  1. Today was the last flight of the Rocket Racer at Mojave before it's disassembled and trucked to Oshkosh. If the airshows it's been putting on yesterday and today are any indication, everyone who'll be seeing it at OSH is in for a decided treat. Pics of some of the unusual attitudes assumed by this rocket plane are up on my blog at http://mojaveskies.blogspot.com Alan
  2. Can you give me a few more details of the record? I'll add the info to my blog entry. Alan
  3. Just like 5 years ago, dozens of canard-equipped flying machines showed up yesterday at Mojave for the celebration of Burt and Dick's birthdays. Pics and an article are up on my blog at http://mojaveskies.blogspot.com/2008/06/rutan-brothers-birthday-bash.html Alan
  4. For what it's worth, the pace of the test program is picking up, as XCor works to demonstrate a quick turnaround capability. They flew yesterday, and then again today, and today's flight included a first, aerobatics (an Immelman), but the flight seemed to be cut short. Rumors were that a second flight was to take place today, but the Racer didn't reappear from Xcor's hangar. Alan
  5. The Air Force has announced that one of the most unique Long-EZs around, powered by a pulse-detonation engine (PDE) designed by the Air Force Research Lab, will be displayed at the AF Museum at Wright-Pat. I was able to shoot the one and only flight of this unique and noisy bird, pics are up at http://mojaveskies.blogspot.com/2008/05/air-forcescaled-composites-pde-long-ez.html Alan
  6. Pics of the May 16 flight of the Rocket Racer are up at http://mojaveskies.blogspot.com/2008/05/flight-of-rocket-racer.html Alan
  7. The prototype Rocket Racer, based on a Velocity SE, has now flown several times at Mojave. It was supposed to fly today, but I don't know that it actually did. I've posted pics of the May 16 flight on my blog at http://mojaveskies.blogspot.com/2008/05/flight-of-rocket-racer.html Alan
