rviglierchio
What are the current battery recommendations? I'll need to replace a B&C 35 Amp battery that isn't holding it's charge. Thought I'd see if there is something better out there in the collective experience. Am waiting on a scale this afternoon to verify all the specs I'll need to match as close as possible. Thank you. Marc Zeitlin
What are the current battery recommendations?See: http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680.htm Starts my O-360 no problem - weighs 7 lb. less than the B&C and/or Concorde. Been discussed many times on the C-A list :-). Quote Marc J. Waiter
Like Marc, I also use an Odessy battery http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc925lmj.htm One of the features I love about these batteries, you can mount them in ANY position. There isn't any acid spillage or venting. My battery weighs in at 23 lbs. Rather than carry useless lead for ballast, consider a larger battery. Marc Zeitlin
Rather than carry useless lead for ballast, consider a larger battery.Yes, in a LE, with the battery in the nose, you MIGHT want the heavier battery if you also need ballast to be ahead of the rearmost CG. Do a W&B before deciding - you should fly as close to the rearmost CG (103" for a LE, 102" for a COZY MKIV) as you can for speed, fuel efficiency, and shorter rotation/landings. Since most LE's have only one pilot, it should be easy to tailor the ballast weight to put the CG exactly where you want it for almost all flights. Quote Marc J.
