  1. I have had the same problem with a completely different set up. I had an old sender and a westach instrument, now I have a new sender and an EFIS. But I'lll still try changing the sender.

  2. I have a Long with a O-290,

    since a while every now and then the Oil P drops to zero or below 10psi then comes up again and so forth, if the engine is running for 20 min or more it happens less frequently. I have the non adjustable cage type relief valve. I cleaned the valve replaced the sphere and the spring and it worked for 3h flight now it does it again. Any ideas what the problem could be?? (zero Oil P makes me somehow nervous in flight)

  3. Thanks Rich, you are perfectly right about teh W&B but since the VE has problems of teh CG being to far back anyway, moving the engine soem inches forward would only help.

  4. hello argoldman, you would not by chance be interested in selling the engine?? I was looking for a midwest to put into my Varieze.

    By the way diamond was bought midwest and they are making a single rotor with 50hp and 25kg (somehow expensive the want 13000€) end of the year they will have a 75hp single rotor.

  5. yes, guilty the VE is not in the US, but I will keep the N-numbers (much less hassle compared to I-XXXX) also should faith (work for a US company) bring me to the US during years to come... The ownership is claer, but the log's and the OL (basically al the papers disapeared, the 3rd owner died...) so I have to ask for a copy anyway.

  6. Dear all, if I would leave of the starter and the magnetos (going for electronic ignition) would I be able to shorten my engine mount by 4-5 inch? If doing so in a Varieze would I be able to use a longer propeller?

  7. dear all, I am rebuilding a VE, has flown had a O-200, but I want to install something else, either Rotax 912 or a jabiru 3300. What are the rules, do I have to comunicate to the FAA the change do I have to do some test filghts (apart form the testing I will do my self obviously)???

    By the way the craft is N numbered but we are in Italy.

  9. thanks guys nevertheless I think I will mount the jabiru 3300, with up to 120hp, installed 83 kg and nearly 10inches smaller than the O-200 I should get a light and fast VE.

  10. Dear all the question has surely been asked before (did not find it with the search function).

    What is the best (max) prop dimension usable in a VE.

    The VE & LE POH state 58 inch but it seems that most people have larger props (my Long, which I did not build has a 62inch Prop).

    Now is the 58inch limit due to ground clearence or more to the max rev. Rutan wanted to run his prop??

  11. Hi Lynn the 160hp sounds good but the O-320 is nearly 300lbs empty, that would leave me less than 200kg usefull load (overgross allready) and basically transform the VE into a one-seater. I had an Idea of using the jabiru 5100 which gives about 200hp weighing 257 pounds installed, that would be a rocket..
