  1. Mark you calendars for October 27th. We will be having a Sport Air Racing League race in Memphis on that day. Hosted by the Delta Squadron of the CAF at M01. More details to follow. http://www.sportairrace.org
  2. Folks, I had some Real Life issues step in and I dropped off the grid for awhile. I just wanted to post and let you know that there has been some movement on the Drybread gear situation. The original molds have been procured and are being rejuvenated. A set of wheel well liners have already been produced. Gear legs are next. An overcenter device has been reverse engineered, drawings made and a machine shop has been engaged to make a new prototype. Stay tuned....
  3. Kevin, You can contact Dorothy here: canardcovers@yahoo.com I just got a cover from her a couple of weeks ago. Rick Pellicciotti EZrg N818KD
  4. The picture of the panel, showing the instruments for sale, is at the top of this message thread. If you would like close up, detailed pictures of any of the items, email me directly and I will send them to you. rick@rocket-boys.com
  5. Someone called me today regarding the canopy. I caught the name but the message broke up when they said their phone number. I cannot call you back. If you called me today, please call again. thanks,
  6. I have some used avionics for sale as a result of my panel upgrade: Used Garmin GTX320 transponder with ACK-30 encoder and a new, RA Miller transponder antenna: http://tinyurl.com/2dxp7l Also a brand new, VAL Avionics COM760 TSO'd comm radio: http://tinyurl.com/29nbe9 thanks,
  7. Small update on the panel web page: http://www.rocket-boys.com/panel.htm Now that we are back from vacation, look for more frequent updates.
  8. Whatever became of this plane? Are there drawings out there anywhere?
  9. Carlos, I was really excited to see you on this group and find out that you are a fellow canardian. Great work on the revised GRT manuals that you did. Will you be at AirVenture? If so, I will come by and say, "Hello". My friend Jeff, and I are very impressed with the GRT stuff, the company and its people. Jeff's F1 Rocket is already flying with his dual display Horizon 1 system and now, I am doing mine. We wish Jeff's trutrak autopilot would work as well as the GRT stuff. It looks like he is going to fly his airplane over to Springdale and leave it for Trutrak to figure out his problems. If it is ok, I will probably send you my wire tables for review after I get them more finalized. I have a sortof odd setup because I am using my existing equipment as much as possible and trying to fill in the gaps with new equipment. Regards,
  10. By the way. There's is lot's of other good information on the Rocket Boys web site. Start at the top and explore the whole site when you have a chance: http://www.rocket-boys.com
  11. Thanks Jack. Looking forward to seeing you when we get back. Your room reservation at OSH is done. I will email the details on the location and so forth.
  12. D, Thanks for the encouragement. Like you, I have learned a lot from people like Robert and Valerie Harris at EZ Jets, the various web sites that you mentioned and others. I hope it is helpful.
  13. I've been following your project. It is worth it! I have actually been working on this since last October. I got all of the new equipment in, worked out the panel layout, built my wiring harnesses and tested everything on the bench. All of this was done while the airplane was still flyable. Now, it is "just" a matter of installing it in the airplane. I still have a lot of fabrication to do like mounts for the two autopilot servos. I am also going to install new CHT and EGT probes and wiring, a new fuel flow sender and a new manifold pressure sender. This will entail opening the airplane up from nose to engine. I'm taking my wife to Italy next week for 8 days. I am trying to bank up enough "at a boys" to get the work done on the airplane fairly quickly after that.
  14. I finally broke down and started the instrument panel upgrade. It killed me to take a wonderfully flying airplane out of service but I think it will be worth it. Now, I just have to get it all done and debugged in time for the AirVenture Cup race. I started a web page to document the process: http://www.rocket-boys.com/panel.htm
  15. Here's some pictures of the split canopy that I have for sale. Rick
  16. I've gotten used to the straight ones too. Just mumbling out loud. Thanks for doing them. F1 Rockets? Think RV's on steroids. Beefed up airframes with 300 to 400HP. http://www.teamrocketaircraft.com http://www.rocket-boys.com
  17. I love my LongEz cursors but I wish they were angled to about 330 degrees like the arrow cursors that they replaced. I know some rich, airline pilot types, that would PAY for some F1 Rocket cursors if you want to finance the latest mods on your airplane.
  18. Yes, the new canopy was taller and wider. Since the Long was standard width, we pinched it in at the frame. It had the F-16 like bulge but not as pronounced as the Viper's. I think I have some pictures of the finished airplane somewhere. The split canopy is still in its frames and the hinges/attachments are there. Unfortunately, the latching mechanism was not preserved so it will require a little imagineering to install this canopy on a new airplane. I will get some pictures this weekend and post them. Rick
  19. Thanks for the kind words. The panel is nice and it works well. I just have to have the latest thing though so I am putting in the GRT EFIS and a second Nav/Com. The canopy was on a flying Long-EZ who's owner passed away. The new owner of the airplane was tall, with a long torso. He didn't have enough head room so he brought the airplane to my shop. We built a new, Big EZ, canopy on the airplane. I kept the old canopy as part of the deal. I don't have any pictures of it at the moment but I will take some on Saturday and send them to you.
  20. Folks, I have a few items for sale that I will be listing on ebay in the next couple of weeks. I wanted to give you a chance at these things first. I don't have pictures of everything yet but if you see something you are interesting in, let me know and I will supply you with whatever you need to help you with your decision making process. Items: 1 New in box, ICOM A200 Comm radio, $600.00 1 Used Long EZ canopy, split like a Berkut, any reasonable offer 1 Sensenich carbon fiber, ground adjustable propellor, for Rotax 912, $1400.00 I am about to start the panel upgrade in 818KD. I am installing EFIS and autopilot. I will have the existing panel, the gyros, flight instruments, vacuum pump and associated plumbing available. Prefer to sell this together as a "drop in" for someone needing a panel for their Long-EZ. I will part it out if I am not able to sell it as a complete package. The panel includes: Attitude Indicator Heading Indicator Airspeed (with True Airspeed window and knob) Turn Coordinator Altimeter VSI Compass JPI Instruments Engine Scanner (6 cylinder) JPI Instruments Slimline Oil Pressure JPI Instruments Slimline Fuel Pressure JPI Instruments Slimline Tachometer JPI Instruments Slimline Manifold Pressure Shadin Fuel Flow/Totalizer Price for panel is negotiable. I have attached a picture of the panel. The radio and transponder are not for sale. The Terra CDI, the intercom and the Marker Beacon receiver are for sale however. I will supply new CHT and EGT probes with the engine instruments. I will also supply a new fuel flow sender with the Shadin unit.
  21. Jack, I followed your airplane very closely through Shirl and the internet. I have never seen it in person. I had my E-Racer fuselage basically finished, on the gear, with the canopy roughed in. I had ordered a canard from Stan Montgomery and that fiasco kind of soured me on the project for a while. A guy came through here and offered me a good price for it and I sold it. Not long after that, I had a chance to buy a flying Long and so I did. Now, I am flying Steve Drybread's EZrg so I have come full circle to a canard airplane with retract gear. Our CAF Squadron meeting is the second Saturday of each month at M01. We usually have a pretty good turnout. I spend quite a bit of time at Robert and Valerie Harris' place (M04) on the weekends. Send me a private email at rick@rocket-boys.com and I will send you my cellphone and other contact info. I am about to take my airplane apart for a couple of months, upgrading the panel with EFIS and autopilot. Rick
  22. WoW! Time flies! I wrote that message in 1996... The Nissan commercial was a neat deal. I still have some video tape of it. Still have my E-Racer plans too.
  23. Does anyone have a drawing (electronic) of the SAE2 prop flange on Lycoming engines that they could share with me? A scan of a Lycoming document or something would be nice. Thanks in advance,
  24. I love the Avanti too. Great looking and performing airplane. Here's a couple of videos for your enjoyment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYNi8bNrNVc http://tinyurl.com/2tczh2 The second video of an Italian Air Force P180 flying a demo at an airshow.
