  1. OK, I've lurked long enough! I've decided to build an open-ez and will stay very close to plans. I've purchased the TURF CDs, downloaded the templates and have started gathering tools. I have access to a wide format printer (construction industry) and will have the templates printed shortly. Also, I'm going to print a 100% scale copy of the TURF CD construction plans (they were scanned at 75% scale). I'm currently in Hawaii, but will probably be moving to the mainland this summer so I'm waiting until we get moved and settled before building anything substantial. In the meantime, I've purchased the practice kit (been needing some bookends...) and started a 1/10 scale model just so I can say I'm doing *something* airplane related. My hot-wire saw will be completed this week end so I'm scouring the rubbish for foam to practice cutting. Chris
  2. I'm in Hawaii and have a similar problem. I've found that the local marine supply store carries West epoxy as well as other fiberglass supplies. Chris
  3. Jon- Any word from John G.? Chris
  4. Howdy- I'm new to the forum and have been reading the archives just trying to learn a little about homebuilding. I really like the looks of the doored cockpit of the Velo, but am really more interested in building from scratch rather than a kit. I was intrigued by this particular thread but noticed it seemed to piter out over a year ago. Has there been any more discussion on this topic that I just haven't stumbled across or have people just decided the plans are the best way to go? Cheers Chris
